Carbon Pricing  Madam Speaker, when the Parliamentary Budget Officer asked the minister's department to provide its internal economic analysis of the carbon tax, the response included the following sentence: “I request you to ensure that this information is used for your office's internal purposes only and is not published or further distributed.”

Carbon Pricing  Madam Speaker, after nine years of the Liberal-NDP government, the Prime Minister is not worth the cost or the cover-ups. The environment minister has been saying all along that the carbon tax would not cost us any money or that it would even make money, but now we know that the economy will lose $30.5 billion per year, or $1,800 per family, because of the carbon tax.

Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, I never said that I believed that the carbon tax would solve this problem in a matter of years. It seems that this argument has been very strongly implied by the Liberals on the other side of the House. What Conservatives have been saying for years is that man-made CO2 emissions have been happening for a couple of centuries now.

Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, I cannot recall the particulars of that particular motion, but I think it is safe to say that Conservatives are in favour of making life more affordable for Canadians. That includes reducing and eliminating the carbon tax and not jacking up the capital gains tax, as the government announced earlier this week.

Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, I enjoy working with my hon. colleague on the environment committee. I think it is important for people to understand that today's debate is about just one small piece of the puzzle we are trying to put together. We have requested some particular documents, and the government grudgingly provided them this morning, but this is a regular occurrence at the environment committee.

Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, let me reiterate the quote from the department's report. It reads, “Every day, we see the increasing impacts of climate change”. Right off the bat, one has to infer that the carbon tax must not be working very well if the department's own report is telling us that every day, we we are seeing increasing impacts of climate change.

Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, I will start by saying that I will be sharing my time today with the hon. member for Portage—Lisgar. I am pleased to have the opportunity to speak in favour today of a very reasonable motion that I believe members of Parliament from all parties should support, moved today by the leader of the official opposition.

Housing  Mr. Speaker, after nine years of the Liberal-NDP Prime Minister, more Canadians than ever are hungry and homeless. The government recently promised to end chronic homelessness in Canada by 2030, but according to the Parliamentary Budget Officer, chronic homelessness is up 38% under the Liberals' watch, and fully 80% of homeless individuals in this country are homeless purely because of affordability reasons.

Budget Implementation Act, 2024, No. 1  Madam Speaker, I would like to thank my colleague for all of her advocacy for Canada's oil and gas sector. In my riding of Regina—Wascana, it is not just the oil and gas workers who benefit from the natural resource sector. It is not just the steelworkers at EVRAZ north of Regina who make the pipelines who benefit from the oil and gas sector.

Budget Implementation Act, 2024, No. 1  Madam Speaker, good heavens. Where do I begin? Yes, the Liberal government has caused a lot of problems in this country. Most notably is the increased use of food banks, especially among children, over the last nine years of the government. I would also really encourage the member to read this country's Constitution.

Budget Implementation Act, 2024, No. 1  Madam Speaker, I have said literally hundreds of times on the campaign trail that yes, Conservatives are opposed to Bill C-48, the west coast oil tanker ban. That is because Canada's oil and gas do not do anyone any good when they just sit there in the ground doing nothing. Other countries around the world buy their oil and gas from Saudi Arabia and Russia.

Budget Implementation Act, 2024, No. 1  Madam Speaker, I am pleased to have the opportunity tonight to speak to the budget. A big part of what politicians do is decide which problems in society need to be solved by governments and which problems are best left to individuals and to families and to the private sector.

National Strategy to Reduce Food Waste and Combat Food Insecurity  Madam Speaker, I am pleased to have the opportunity today to speak against Motion No. 110, a national strategy to reduce food waste and to combat food insecurity. This is another example of the Liberals rushing in to save the day, to solve a problem that they themselves created and have been creating over the last nine years they have been in office.

Natural Resources  Mr. Speaker, last month, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis visited Canada. As was the case with so many other world leaders, the Greek prime minister said that his country would welcome more liquefied natural gas imports from Canada. In an interview with CTV's Vassy Kapelos, the Greek prime minister said, “As fast as we go in terms of our renewable penetration, we will still need a reliable source of electricity, and for us, for Greece, we don't have nuclear, we're...completely, moving away from coal, so that leaves natural gas for the foreseeable future.”
