Environment committee  Sure. One of the things we were tasked with by the federal, provincial, and territorial ministers was to look at the accounting of what type of conservation works. I think we're coming to the conclusion that we need to expand the role and recognition of those areas that contribute to the target, and start working.

Environment committee  As you know, in terms of the mission for Wood Buffalo and the identification of the key challenges to maintaining the universal values of Wood Buffalo under the convention, we have a process to respond to that, including a strategic environmental assessment—

Environment committee  —and an action plan. There are going to be a wide variety of players involved in the response to that, because we're dealing with species, with the Peace-Athabasca delta, with water flows, and so on. There are a variety of both federal, provincial, and territorial jurisdictions responsible for some of those areas as well as for our relationship with indigenous people.

Environment committee  Thank you very much for the question. With respect to an individual or specific place, I probably can't answer that, but one of the areas that the national advisory panel and the national steering committee looked at was not just large landscapes, but small landscapes. Environment committee  Thank you for the question. I can start. As you obviously know, this committee has given us excellent advice on moving forward with the conservation agenda in protected areas. That advice is being utilized as part of the Pathway to Canada target one, where we are engaging with provinces, territories, and indigenous groups to essentially map out the approach on a national basis of how we're going to reach the Canada target one, which is the Aichi target 11.

Environment committee  Perhaps I can start. Thank you for the question. Certainly, in terms of the circumstance in Wood Buffalo and the issue that we have there with the state of the park—that's the state of the universal values there—we're guided by the guidelines for UNESCO in terms of the processes that we have to have in place to address those concerns.

Environment committee  So, we have reallocated internally resources focused on addressing the Strategic Environmental Assessment and engagement with indigenous groups. But in order to have a fulsome action plan it will require additional resources and that is something that we would be looking at going forward.
