Carbon Pricing  Madam Speaker, when the Parliamentary Budget Officer asked the minister's department to provide its internal economic analysis of the carbon tax, the response included the following sentence: “I request you to ensure that this information is used for your office's internal purposes only and is not published or further distributed.”

Carbon Pricing  Yesterday, common-sense Conservatives forced the NDP-Liberal government to release some of the data that the government has been suppressing. It proves that the carbon tax costs every Canadian family nearly $2,000. The environment minister has misled Canadians. When will he resign?

Carbon Pricing  The Liberals have been trying to muzzle the Parliamentary Budget Officer and the government is still holding much of this report from the public. The entire report must be released to expose the economic vandalism of the carbon tax. The environment minister is not worth the cost. Will he resign?

Carbon Pricing  Madam Speaker, an employee responsible for causing $30,000 in economic vandalism to his or her company would be fired on the spot. In this case, it is even worse. The radical Minister of Environment knew that the carbon tax would cause $30.5 billion in economic damage to Canada. That is nearly $2,000 per family. He covered up the report. He ridiculed the Parliamentary Budget Officer and tried to muzzle him.

Carbon Pricing  He wants to get a gold star and a pat on the back because the Liberals have not applied the carbon tax to even more things. I am sorry, but Conservatives are not going to do that. The carbon tax is not helping the government achieve its emissions targets. Since the government implemented the carbon tax, and hiked it year after year, Canada has fallen to 62nd out of 67 countries.

Industry committee  Thank you, Mr. Williams. I appreciate the question. We've done some work on the carbon tax or the carbon pricing policy. We came to the conclusion that it was really difficult to know beyond a reasonable doubt how the carbon tax is impacting retail prices specifically, because a lot of different factors can impact retail prices.

Main Estimates 2024-25  The government failed 60% of the time, although it almost achieved a 100% cover-up rate for the carbon tax cost. The department was exposed by the Auditor General for making up fantasy numbers for the net-zero projections for hydrogen projections. What did it do? It paid out bonuses to 94% of the executives.

Main Estimates 2024-25  I had the opportunity to knock on doors in the hon. member's riding fairly recently, and he may want to try that sometime soon and hear from his constituents. Without a doubt, the cost of living, the carbon tax and their mortgage increases are what I heard about over and over again at the doors in Niagara Centre.

Main Estimates 2024-25  If we think back to April of this year, common-sense Conservatives called upon the Liberal-NDP government to spike the hike, to not increase the carbon tax by 23% on April 1, on its way to quadrupling. We also know, according to a Fraser Institute study, that nine out of 10 middle-class families are now paying more in income tax. These tax increases are certainly the very last thing that Canadians need at a time when they are already facing a cost of living crisis.

Government Operations committee  Do you feel this carbon tax is effective, when it's only increasing costs on small businesses and preventing a third of businesses from investing and reducing their emissions?

Industry committee  The basket of food for Canadians in April 2021, if they bought it for $100, is now at $121—a 21% increase—and at the same time, we've seen the carbon tax go up by 23% this year. Next year, it's supposed to go up another 19%. How do you foresee the carbon tax impacting food manufacturers across Canada in particular and their ability to manage costs and maintain affordability for consumers?

Business of Supply  Does my colleague agree with me that just knowing information on the economic impact of the carbon tax or other measures is not enough? Does he agree that we also need information on the cost of climate change and natural disasters? Should we not know how much more money ordinary people have to pay for their insurance, which is getting a lot more expensive?

Business of Supply  What is going on, and how this government is continuing to drive farmers out of business because of its carbon tax and make everything unaffordable to even make a living in this country, is ridiculous, and this member should be more aware of that.

Budget Implementation Act, 2024, No. 1  Even though the Liberals have failed to meet every single environmental target they have set for themselves, they are obsessed with checking the carbon tax box. We see that activist-driven agenda with the obsession they have to punish our farmers. The Prime Minister is fighting tooth and nail to keep the carbon tax on farm operations. The carbon tax is increasing the cost of food production and is a huge hit to the bottom line of our farmers.

Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, I find my Bloc Québécois colleague's comments a bit sad. He said that this carbon tax does not affect Quebec because it does not apply there, but the fact is, the Parliamentary Budget Officer says it is costing Canada more than $30 billion per year, and that does have an impact on Quebec.
