News Media Industry  Mr. Speaker, our government will always be open to new solutions. We will always look at what more we can do and what we can do better. However, when we introduced the Canadian journalism labour tax credit, the Conservatives were against it. When we created the Canada Media Fund for the regions, the Conservatives were against it.

Democratic Institutions  Mr. Speaker, if the Bloc Québécois really cared about what is going on in Quebec, if the Bloc Québécois really cared about what is worrying Quebeckers right now, it would be asking questions about the wildfires, because that is what is worrying Quebeckers. If the Bloc really cared and had asked a question about the fires, I would have told them that my colleague is in constant contact with the Quebec government.

Disaster Assistance  Mr. Speaker, we are all concerned about this situation. First of all, I want to thank the firefighters for their work and acknowledge their courage. Quebec reached out with a request last Saturday and we answered yes within hours. The Canadian Armed Forces has deployed 150 service personnel.

Intergovernmental Relations  Mr. Speaker, I do not know what kind of relationships my colleague has been in in the past. To come back to the debate that concerns us, I have a great deal of respect for the National Assembly. What is happening is that we are respecting jurisdictions. Right now, there is a debate going on in Quebec and we are talking about it.

Intergovernmental Relations  Mr. Speaker, I was talking directly to my friends in the Bloc Québécois who are constantly looking for something to bicker over. Speaking of bickering, or chicane in French, this makes me think of the famous band La Chicane and one of their songs: The Bloc is so “goddamn pissed” and there is “some resentment here”.

Intergovernmental Relations  I apologize, Mr. Speaker. I was quoting the song. The Bloc Québécois is always looking for ways to divide people. Why does it not work with the government to make a difference for our families, our seniors, our young people, our businesses and the environment? That would be a sign that they are here—

Canadian Heritage  Mr. Speaker, first, I want to offer my deepest condolences to the family, friends and loved ones of Michel Côté. Michel, we loved him for his humour, his sensitivity, his sincerity and his absolutely extraordinary talent. With his roles in De père en flic, Broue, Cruising Bar, Omertà and C.R.A.Z.Y., he left his mark on several generations of Quebeckers.

Intergovernmental Relations  Mr. Speaker, they want the truth. The truth is that the Bloc has both feet firmly planted in the past. They have both feet stuck right in it. The Bloc is incapable of looking toward the future. They say they want to talk about the future, yet they focus on events that took place 30 years ago.

Intergovernmental Relations  Mr. Speaker, that is typical Bloc Québécois. They look forward by looking back 35 years. That is how the Bloc operates. Basically, what Bloc members want is to come here and pick yet another fight, but not just with the Government of Canada. Now they want to pick a fight with Newfoundland.

Firearms  Mr. Speaker, I thank my colleague for her question and for all of the work that she does in her community. Like the residents of Châteauguay—Lacolle, the people in my riding of Honoré-Mercier are too often faced with gun violence. I am proud to be able to tell them that we are taking action with Bill C-21.

Finance  Mr. Speaker, we know very well that many Canadians are having trouble making ends meet at this time. People expect us to manage their money with transparency. That obviously includes members and senators, the government and the Governor General.

Finance  Mr. Speaker, the government knows that a lot of people are going through tough times. That is why we have responded with a range of programs for child care, health care and more. Here is the real issue. Where exactly are the Conservatives, who have a habit of leaving Canadians to their own devices, going to make their cuts?

Democratic Institutions  Mr. Speaker, the Bloc members are really something. They get up in the morning, brush their teeth and start thinking about the monarchy. They are obsessed. They look at the paper but do not read articles about the climate change crisis. They do not look at articles about how to grow the economy.

Democratic Institutions  Mr. Speaker, other members of the House might want to talk about things like the economy and social programs, whether they agree or disagree. We talk about all kinds of things: how to invest here at home, how to attract businesses, how to help our seniors, how to help our students, how to help our families, how to help our young people.

Canadian Heritage  Mr. Speaker, I thank my colleague for his question and excellent work. This is a great moment, a very great moment. Web giants will now have to contribute to our culture. They will have to promote it. They will have to pay their fair share. A big thank you to the cultural sector, who has fought for years, and a big thank you to my Liberal, Bloc Québécois and NPD colleagues and to the senators.
