Industry committee There are issues in terms of disclosure. What we do provide to all Canadians on a regular basis is that we publish investments made in companies and the total amount of investment. We do this on an aggregate basis—

Industry committee The short answer is that CIFAR is playing a role in administering the $125 million. As part of that, Alan Bernstein is very much encouraging coordination across the three centres. With respect to the superclusters, each of the three areas has proposed investments related to three of the five superclusters.

Industry committee Chair, I just have further information on PromoScience. As you identified, the $3.5 million in budget 2017, is part of a ramp-up of the NSERC program on PromoScience. This program is dedicated to supporting non-profits in the support of stem cells. I think the additional funding is particularly targeted to women in science and indigenous youth.

Industry committee Yes, we'll do that. As I've said, what we have here is that, since November 2015, 507,600 jobs have been created, but I don't have the breakdown for full-time or part-time jobs.
November 28th, 2017Committee meeting
John Knubley
Industry committee Minister, I'll have to get back to you on that. The PromoScience program has been launched and a series of initiatives have been identified, but I don't have the specifics.

May 18th, 2017Committee meeting
John Knubley
Industry committee Yes, we work directly with the Treasury Board. The Treasury Board is the lead in these activities. As I mentioned, I think two issues that have come up demonstrate the kind of work we're doing on regulatory issues. One is intellectual property, and the second is the Canadian free trade agreement, where we've negotiated a new instrument with the provinces to constantly review regulations within Canada on an ongoing basis.
May 18th, 2017Committee meeting
John Knubley
Industry committee Minister Bains will have a chance to speak to this issue. In terms of the Canadian free trade agreement the CFIB recognized that the culmination of the new agreement was worthy of an award, and the CFIB gave Minister Bains, as well as other ministers, provincial ministers, a Golden Scissors award.
