Department of Public Works and Government Services Act I would like to point to my colleagues and suggest they look at the United States. They brought in an all-of-government approach through the IRA. There has been explosive, unprecedented growth in clean tech. We can look at the state of Texas. Texas is so right-wing, it would stand out even on the Conservative backbench, although maybe they would move it to the front bench these days.

Natural Resources committee The grid operator in Alberta was thinking about what would happen if we had 2,000 megawatts of solar. Six months later, we have 4,000 megawatts in the queue, so we've seen that rapid explosion as well. Texas is a nice parallel, but where I would highlight the differences is that our big crunch times for electricity and energy come in the last couple of weeks of December and the first couple of weeks of January.

Excise Tax Act In today's complex, extremely demanding and ever-changing world, more and more people are experiencing mental health problems. In recent years, the COVID-19 pandemic has led to an explosion in the need for mental health care among Quebeckers and Canadians. Some people are even talking about a mental health crisis. The uncertainty, the anxiety and the hardship caused by this unprecedented situation have largely contributed to this secondary epidemic, which often slips under the radar.

Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Atlantic Accord Implementation Act Madam Speaker, we know that the clean energy tax credits of the Biden administration have created an explosive growth in clean energy opportunities, $110 billion in new projects. On offshore wind, the vineyard project will create energy for 400,000 homes; off Rhode Island, 250,000 homes, so it is a huge opportunity.

Subcommittee on International Human Rights committee After the last 10 years.... I'll start from the very beginning. In 2022, there were many explosions and one of them was very tragic. All of them were tragic, but I can mention the three most evident right now. A gunman came to the door of a school, killed the security guy at the door and then entered the classroom.

Child Health Protection Act This increase was particularly marked among youth aged 12 to 17, with overweight and obesity again doubling for this age group, from 14% to 29%. It was precisely at this time that there was a significant explosion of processed foods on grocery store shelves. It was the time of convenience. It was the era of frozen pizzas, Jell-O boxes and tasty fish sticks. I know many families for whom, in the 1980s and 1990s, frozen, overly processed foods with too much fat and too much salt were a magic solution.

Budget Implementation Act, 2023, No. 1 Harvard economists, Reinhart and Rogoff, also found that financial meltdowns cause government debt to further explode. It is an explosion within an explosion, and a crisis on top of a crisis. That is why it is always most humane to protect the country's finances in advance to avoid the need for austerity. That is what we, as Conservatives, do.

Business of Supply The next day, the risk was high in Lebel-sur-Quévillon, where the Nordic Kraft pulp and paper mill is located. There could have been a very serious explosion, because of all the chemicals in the plant. The entire town of Lebel-sur-Quévillon had to be evacuated. In just a few hours' time, 2,500 people were evacuated to Senneterre and Val-d'Or.

Budget Implementation Act, 2023, No. 1 While the working class in America was losing its jobs to automation and outsourcing, it was not enjoying any of the lower prices that those competitive forces should have provided because the central bank was neutralizing cost savings by inflating the cost of living by printing cash. We saw a massive explosion in the wealth of Wall Street and Silicon Valley, while the working poor in industrial states, such as Pennsylvania, Ohio and others, found themselves more and more disenfranchised. Their wages were going down, yet their prices were going up.

Wildfires in Canada The fire was 500 metres from the Nordic Kraft mill and could have had devastating consequences given all the potential explosive products on site. There are the indigenous Anishinabe communities of Lac‑Simon and Kitcisakik; Louvicourt, which is the gateway from Abitibi—Témiscamingue to the rest of Quebec; Val‑d'Or, which has had evacuation alerts; the people of Normétal and their mayor, Ghislain Desbiens, who have had to mobilize; Saint‑Lambert also had an alert; Saint‑Dominique‑du‑Rosaire and its mayor, Christian Legault, whom I would like to acknowledge and to whom I spoke briefly today, where fires broke out and were quickly brought under control; La Reine and Fanny Dupras, with whom I have frequent discussions.

International Human Rights Act Over the past two decades, Canada has contributed over $450 million to this end. Our international programming addresses key elements of explosive ordnance clearance work, including national implementation support, stockpile destruction, gender mainstreaming, risk education, training and victim assistance. This work is essential to the sustainable facilitation of the safe return of civilian populations, reconstruction of affected communities and the restoration of essential services for generations to come.

Transport committee My question for you is with regard specifically to flooding. By the way, as well, just next door to me, in Chatham-Kent—Leamington.... That explosion is, obviously.... Wheatley is where that gas was from. It very much hits home. I almost feel as though I'm home today when listening to you, Madam Mayor. Do you work closely with your conservation authority?

Transport committee It's not a proactive approach to how we're going to handle them in the future and our planning for the next stages. We know in Wheatley, Ontario, there was a rather large explosion in the downtown core urban centre with regard to a gas well, as well as in Norfolk County. It's reactive. It is trying to monitor it, cap it and then move on to the next one. I'm not very well versed in the exact role of the federal level at this point in time.

Transport committee It may not fit into the disaster mitigation and adaptation funding presently, but, if left unresolved, there may be catastrophic damage from explosions and from environmental leaks. Can you speak to that issue?
