Financial Protection for Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Farmers Act  Mr. Speaker, I rise to speak to Bill C-280, which amends the the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act and the Companies' Creditors Arrangement Act to provide that perishable fruits and vegetables sold by a supplier to a purchaser, as well as the proceeds of sale of those fruits and vegetables, are to be held in trust by the purchaser for the supplier in the event that the purchaser has not fully paid for the produce and becomes bankrupt or subject to a receivership or applies to the court to sanction a compromise or an arrangement.

Strengthening Environmental Protection for a Healthier Canada Act  Madam Speaker, we are discussing a bill to establish the right to a healthy environment. However, this bill does not actually give Canadians such a right. In its current form, Bill S‑5 does not really give citizens a way to assert this right. Does my colleague acknowledge that this would depend on the government's goodwill or lack thereof?

Strengthening Environmental Protection for a Healthier Canada Act  Madam Speaker, I thank my colleague for his speech. I would like to extend condolences to everyone in his riding who has experienced this disaster. It is important to recognize that they are victims of climate change. My colleague talked a lot about the Senate, but I would like to remind him that the Liberals and the Conservatives did not listen to any environmental groups, unlike the NDP, the Bloc Québécois and the Green Party, which made proposals based on information from environmental groups.

Old Age Security Act  Mr. Speaker, in case my colleagues want to tease me again, I must say that I was obviously talking about luxury. Our bill is not a luxury, it is a necessity. That being said, I wonder if my colleague is misleading the House, because the Bloc Québécois has never been against rolling back the retirement age from 67 to 65.

Old Age Security Act  Mr. Speaker, do I have 15 minutes? I see that I do not. All joking aside, I am not the only one. I could name all my colleagues in this place who advocated for seniors along with the Bloc Québécois. I was given the first questions when the Bloc Québécois arrived in the House in December 2019.

Old Age Security Act  Mr. Speaker, I completely agree. In the OECD, we could be doing a lot more to support seniors. Things are not going to improve, because the indexing method and model mean wages are going up faster than the OAS. By the way, I think that the Conservatives are being rather quiet. I want to remind the House that there is a cost to leaving seniors in poverty.

Old Age Security Act  moved that Bill C-319, An Act to amend the Old Age Security Act (amount of full pension), be read the second time and referred to a committee. Mr. Speaker, I am honoured to introduce my first bill today, Bill C-319. The summary reads as follows: This enactment amends the Old Age Security Act to increase the amount of the full pension to which all pensioners aged 65 or older are entitled by 10% and to raise the exemption for a person’s employment income or self-employed earnings that is taken into account in determining the amount of the guaranteed income supplement from $5,000 to $6,500.

Women's Rights  Mr. Speaker, the pathetic circus has returned to the Hill. With their fake smiles and their fake compassion, these anti-choice, anti-women demonstrators have returned. We see once again the generous Conservative donors eagerly waiting to applaud the few members of the official opposition who will come out to encourage them and sing the praises of their holy crusade against women's rights.

Government Business No. 25—Proceedings on Bill C-21  Mr. Speaker, at the very end of his speech, my colleague touched on the issue of red flags. Between the Conservatives' disinformation and the lack of political will of the Liberal‑NDP coalition, there was a great deal of concern coming from women's groups. The issue of red flags was not clear.

Government Business No. 25—Proceedings on Bill C-21  Madam Speaker, my colleague quickly addressed the issue of women's groups. She spoke about how the Bloc Québécois has worked to reassure hunters. She also mentioned in her speech that women's groups are concerned about violence. A measure was proposed for women's groups, the red flag provisions, and we discussed it.

Violence Against Pregnant Women Act  Madam Speaker, rising this evening to speak to Bill C‑311 is utterly exasperating. The Criminal Code amendment in the bill would force the courts to consider the fact that an assault victim is a pregnant woman an aggravating circumstance for sentencing purposes. I realize this may seem like a sensitive issue, but, as usual, the Conservatives want to reopen the abortion debate.

Violence Against Pregnant Women Act  Madam Speaker, in her speech, my colleague from Yorkton-Melville talked about a majority of Canadians. She is certainly not talking about a majority of Quebeckers. She brought up the Conservative difference; I am talking about the Quebec difference. Recently, Quebec's minister responsible for the status of women expressed concern for women's right to abortion.

Privilege  Madam Speaker, I share the Leader of the Opposition's concerns. In fact, that is why, earlier this year, I went to meet with professors and researchers at the Université de Sherbrooke who specialize in cybercrime issues. They were eager to talk to me and share their concerns. They shared the results of their research with me.

Court Challenges Program Act  Madam Speaker, I rise today to speak about Bill C‑316, an act to amend the Department of Canadian Heritage Act, specifically with respect to the court challenges program. The Bloc Québécois supports this bill in principle. We would like to look at Bill C‑316 in committee and make recommendations.

Red Dress Day  Madam Chair, one thing is certain: An alert system could engage the public. I answered that question earlier. Beyond what we as elected officials can do and what the government can do, there is also a need to raise public awareness of this issue. I hope that we can open up a broader debate and make people aware of the fact that, in 2023, indigenous communities are disproportionately victimized.
