Conflict of Interest and Ethics Commissioner's Report  Madam Speaker, maybe the member did not listen to my remarks. I acknowledged receiving those three letters, and I said that I did not respond to those three letters. I explained why today, and I explained why to the commissioner. It was not indicated in August that I had not complied.

Conflict of Interest and Ethics Commissioner's Report  Madam Speaker, I thank the member for the question and for his kind remarks. Believe me, courage is not the emotion I am feeling right now. It was not confrontational at all. I did not choose overtly not to respond to the commissioner. I will say again that I believed then, as I do now, that I had provided all of the information.

Conflict of Interest and Ethics Commissioner's Report  Madam Speaker, I will take the member at his word that he read the report, but maybe he was not listening to what I said earlier. What was outstanding was not information: it was answers to questions on the form, which I had told the office I did not know the answers to. The supporting documentation was all there.

Conflict of Interest and Ethics Commissioner's Report  Madam Speaker, it is fortuitous, I suppose, that I am in the House today. I am here for another reason. I did not know we were going to be having this discussion today, but I am glad that I am here because somebody has questioned my honour. I am going to stand here and defend it.

Cultural Industries  Madam Speaker, I am here today to congratulate the Minister of Canadian Heritage for being a champion to our cultural industries with his vision for the future and for dealing with the immediacy of the pandemic. Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, I appreciate and admire the member's passion. She was saying that income security and expanded health care are issues we should be talking about in the House. We are talking about them in the House, but we need to talk about them in a measured, responsible way. She said she does not know what $37 billion looks like.

Halloween  Mr. Speaker, as I am sure everybody is aware that today is National Chocolate Day. However, everybody is aware that Saturday is Halloween and normally families would be getting ready for the excitement that Halloween brings. When our kids are older, they will not remember every Halloween, but they will remember this one.

The industry has been hit hard by this pandemic.

David P. Smith  Mr. Speaker, Canada has lost a giant. The Honourable David P. Smith, husband, father, grandfather, former cabinet minister, senator and a genuine political legend, passed away yesterday. “Brother Smith”, as he was known by everyone, was honest, funny and decent. He was called home, but far too soon.

Natural Resources  Mr. Speaker, our energy sector has a long history of creating prosperity and opportunity for Canadians, however, this sector has been going through the most difficult time, which has caused stress and hardship for workers, families and communities. Our government has made market access, especially access to new markets, a priority, so we can support hard-working Canadians in the energy sector.
