Business of Supply  Mr. Speaker, the hon. member heckled me that it is not a carbon tax. The way to fix it was to price pollution, to price the thing one did not want so one has less of it. This is cognitive dissonance. They cannot get it through their heads that this works.

Business of Supply  Speaker, I want to reiterate something that was brought up by my colleague here on this side of the House, which was that the Prime Minister said the carbon tax would not be increased past $50 a tonne. I recently read Jody Wilson-Raybould's book, in which she said that she had realized that the Liberals will say whatever they have to say to get elected.

Business of Supply  Many Canadians are saying, “sooner rather than later, please” because here is the NDP's pitch to help the struggling senior in Burnaby, British Columbia: Put a carbon tax on of 61¢ a litre, drive up the cost of food, drive up the cost of gas, drive up the cost of rent and drive up the cost of losing a home. The NDP, provincially and federally, is complicit.

Business of Supply  Speaker, I rise on a point of order. That is pure disinformation and the member knows it. B.C. does not have a federal carbon tax, so he is going to have to withdraw his words.

Business of Supply  Speaker, I always love to hear the NDP. I appreciate its members' interventions proving they just love the carbon tax. They have no problem quadrupling it. Canadians will decide in the next election. I cannot wait.

Business of Supply  Speaker, we saw the former leader of the Conservative Party twist, bend and jump all over the place to try to justify statistics so that Conservatives can continue their spin of misinformation. Let us be very clear. There is a carbon tax, and there is a carbon rebate. It is as simple as that. Eighty per cent plus of people will receive more in the rebate than they will pay in the tax. No matter how many somersaults or twisting of the facts the former leader of the Conservative Party does, that is the reality.

Finance committee  They're not getting ahead, even though they're working harder than ever before. Rising taxes, like the carbon tax scam, have contributed to unaffordability and rising prices. Gas, grocery and home heating costs have all gone up and continue to go up because of the carbon tax. On April 1 this Liberal-NDP government plans to hike the carbon tax by 23%.

Official Languages committee  Chair, before we go any further, I would ask that you stop the clock, as I have motions to move. You know that April 1st is not only April Fools’ Day. Unfortunately, a new carbon tax will be imposed on that day. I believe you received notices of motions in a timely fashion and in accordance with the Standing Orders of the House of Commons, which allows us to move them here this afternoon.

Public Safety committee  In light of recent news about a Montreal food bank having to call in police officers to deal with hundreds of additional Montrealers seeking food, and given that we know the carbon tax does have an effect contributing to food insecurity and that food insecurity is indeed a public safety issue in this country, I'm just going to put on notice my motion that we report to the House to spike the hike and axe the tax so we can bring food prices down, so that police can deal with the very real issues that we've talked about in this committee instead of having to go to food banks to provide crowd control for the hundreds and thousands of hungry Canadians who are using food banks in this country.

Carbon Pricing  s 2024 budget, where the provincial government blames the Prime Minister for forcing a 23% carbon tax hike on April 1. Will the Prime Minister help sandwiched British Columbians and spike the hike, or do British Columbians need to throw him out like an old, spoiled, stale pack of baloney?

Carbon Pricing  Mr. Speaker, in British Columbia, the carbon tax is going up 23% on April 1. After eight years of the NDP-Liberal government, middle-income families are depending on food banks. They receive absolutely nothing, no federal tax rebate and no provincial tax rebate, but they do get higher prices for food, gas and heating.

Carbon Pricing  Will the members of the Liberal Party and the Bloc Québécois acknowledge the frustration of farmers and vote against the 23% carbon tax hike on April 1?

Carbon Pricing  Here are the facts. The Liberals are increasing the cost of food, yet again, on April 1 by increasing the carbon tax by 23%. This is driving Canadians to food banks in unprecedented numbers. The Caring Cupboard food bank in Prince Edward Island is struggling just to keep its doors open. It cannot handle the increase in demand, which is up 70%, 5,500 families.

Carbon Pricing  Speaker, Saturday's poll by the Voice of the Common Man revealed that 90% of Newfoundlanders and Labradorians are against the April 1 increase in carbon tax by 23%. Even Liberal Premier Furey pleaded with the Prime Minister to pause the April 1 tax hike. Newfoundlanders and Labradorians are sick and tired of these cruel April Fool's Day jokes, so after eight years, will the NDP-Liberal Prime Minister heed the plead and spike the hike, or will he once again prove that he is simply not worth the cost?

Carbon Pricing  Speaker, while common-sense Conservatives are fighting to axe the tax, build the homes, fix the budget and stop the crime, the Prime Minister is promising a cruel April Fool's Day joke, a 23% carbon tax hike on food, gas and groceries. This is at a time when the Prime Minister has forced 50 families at CFB Gagetown, military families, to go to food banks. Two million Canadians every month are going to those same food banks, and 8,000 are part of a Facebook group where they share tips on eating out of dumpsters.
