Business of Supply  During an exchange during question period, one of the parliamentary secretaries on this side of the House talked about the Premier of Ontario Doug Ford being a Conservative. The member for St. Albert—Edmonton put in quotes “Conservative”, as if to suggest that Doug Ford, the Conservative Premier of Ontario, is not Conservative enough for this particular Conservative Party of Canada that we are stuck dealing with now.

Declaration of Emergency committee  Chair. I'm actually looking at an article from April 25, 2020, where it says “Ontario Premier Doug Ford called anti-lockdown protesters at Queen's Park on Saturday 'a bunch of yahoos' and said they were being 'selfish' and 'irresponsible' for demonstrating against provincial emergency orders in place to slow the spread of COVID-19.”

Declaration of Emergency committee  His initial reaction was we shouldn’t and thought that doing that was going to put pressure on the federal government in terms of, you know, if we meet with them, someone else would have to meet with them, 'Kanellakos said'. The article also quoted Justin Trudeau as saying: “'Doug Ford has been hiding from his responsibility on it for political reasons,' Trudeau said”.

Business of Supply  When the price on pollution was first introduced in the House, there was still a cap and trade model of pricing pollution shared among Ontario, Quebec and California, and Ontario was exempt from the federal program. What happened? Doug Ford ripped up the cap and trade program that had been put in place, excluded Ontario from that trilateral deal with California and Quebec, and as a result was subject to the default, which was the federal program.

Child Care  This means higher fees for parents and lower wages for staff to maximize profits. This morning, the Prime Minister stood with Premier Doug Ford. Did the Prime Minister tell the premier that removing limits on for-profit child care does not work, and will he ensure that federal money is not going to for-profit care?

Government Business No. 20—Proceedings on Bill C-31  Will she tell them that Quebeckers paid over $200 million to fund this program that will help those who voted for Doug Ford in Ontario? I hope she does. I hope she will be honest enough to do that. I am beginning to understand why the Liberals made their little deal to avoid an election. I can understand them not wanting to go to the polls and face voters.

Cost of Living Relief Act, No. 2  It is a portable program. Consultations go on until December. Why is it that in the province of Ontario, Doug Ford is getting the support of labour? It is because he is getting the results for workers. What the current government needs to do is provide broad-based tax relief so that we get out of the way and put more money in the pockets of Canadians to assist them in providing the better future they are all looking for.

Business of Supply  They negotiated that deal with California to put California, Quebec and Ontario in that agreement. Unfortunately, it was the first thing that Doug Ford threw out when he got into government. I also want to commend the member for the initiative. He brought up my electric car and travelling through Quebec. Quebec has by far the best electric charging infrastructure in the country.

Canada Disability Benefit Act  My question to the member, in terms of this legislation, is about a credible plan to actually get it to people and ensure, particularly in my region of Ontario, that it will not be clawed back by the Doug Ford government. We have seen it go after poor people relentlessly. People are not able to pay their rent. People are not able to live in dignity. What steps can we see in this legislation that would protect people on disability from suffering these provincial clawbacks?

Canada Disability Benefit Act  Here is the first one: “I’m trying to find remote work part time but if I make over $200 a month, Doug Ford will take it back provincially. We desperately need help and no three-year study is needed. It's been done. So many studies. Why the Liberals are stalling as more people are applying for MAID.

Preserving Provincial Representation in the House of Commons Act  That means a majority government that got 40% of the vote of the 43% of people who showed up elected a majority without the majority of public support. In fact, the Doug Ford government in Ontario has the active support, as measured by who went out to vote for him, of 18% of the Ontario public. I am not blaming Doug Ford. The first-past-the-post voting system does not encourage voting.

Budget Implementation Act, 2022, No. 1  I was taken with a column in Rabble newspaper by Karl Nerenberg on all the fetishizing and coverage by the media in just looking at the polling and kind of announcing that Doug Ford was going to win before the campaign started. Does the member feel that this played a role in reducing voter turnout?

Declaration of Emergency committee  If I could, though, with specificity, we're in Ontario. The nation's capital is being occupied. Doug Ford moves an emergency act and then ostensibly does nothing for weeks. What powers did they claim under that act that failed, and why didn't the municipality of Ottawa consider, as our committee colleague Mr.

Ontario Provincial Election  Madam Speaker, on behalf of the Conservative Party of Canada, I rise to congratulate Premier Doug Ford and his team of candidates on winning a strong and stable Progressive Conservative majority government. I also want to thank Andrea Horwath and Steven Del Duca. Leading a party through an election is a tough task and I wish them both the best of luck in their future endeavours.
