Situation in Israel, Gaza and the West Bank  Mr. Speaker, there have been discussions among the parties, and if you seek it, I believe you will find unanimous consent to adopt the following motion: That the House immediately and unequivocally demands that unimpeded humanitarian aid be allowed into Gaza, and in particular, food, fuel and water; that every measure be taken to protect civilian life in Gaza; that all foreign nationals be allowed to immediately leave Gaza, including Canadians and their families; and that the House reiterate its firm and unwavering commitment to a two-state solution, with a viable Palestinian state, living side-by-side in peace and security with Israel.

Foreign Affairs committee  You gave some examples. In terms of outcomes, when people are starved for whatever reason, what types of negative outcomes actually are produced when that happens? It's beyond the educational shortcomings and the lack of full attainment of the individual. I'm thinking more along the lines of people resorting to things that are unacceptable within society.

Foreign Affairs committee  Thank you, Mr. Chair. Thank you to the witnesses for being here. I'd also like to thank Mr. Bergeron for teaching me a new word in French, “autofilibuster”. I would like to ask Mr. Hagerman a question, please. You had really insightful comments at the beginning, when you started off by saying that food security is global security.

Foreign Affairs committee  It makes sense that we would wait for Armenia to take the lead, given that it is directly impacted. Armenians and Azeris are directly involved, so we have to consider how these two actors are conducting themselves before we get involved. I'm sure you're very well aware of what's happening, given your presence in Armenia.

Foreign Affairs committee  That's really helpful, because it helps us reach our ultimate objective, which is peace. Sanctions are a very important and critical tool, which you must use at the appropriate time. However, to your point around peace, it is clearly our objective to help people in Armenia and the region.

Foreign Affairs committee  Thank you, Mr. Chair. Thank you, Mr. Turner, for being here today. I would like to pick up on a theme that has been brought up in the testimony so far around sanctions. This is an important tool that we use to promote peace and security around the world, as I'm sure you're very well aware.

Do you have any insight on what we can provide as a country to the rest of the world when it comes to cleaner and renewable energy sources?

Foreign Affairs committee  Which parties are involved in allowing aid to pass through? Are there any impediments from any parties to allow aid to pass through to Gaza?
