Saskatchewan Elections  Mr. Speaker, I would like to talk about my home province of Saskatchewan, especially a big shout-out to all my friends and colleagues in the Saskatchewan Party. As many would know, we had our set election yesterday. Our election laws made it possible for Elections Saskatchewan to hold elections during these challenging times.

Judges Act  Madam Speaker, I am not a lawyer. I have not been trained in law in Canada. However, from my experience, I would expect that judges today would involve themselves if, in their minds, the defence has gone a little too far in their cross-examination. I am not a judge. I am not a member of the court.

Judges Act  Madam Speaker, the hon. member is correct in the assumption that this is not going to fix all that ails our society. It is not going to fix sexual assault in Canada. We are still going to have that scourge. It does send a message that we will not tolerate in our judges ideas and thoughts that belong in days long gone.

Judges Act  Madam Speaker, the question raises somewhat the same issue as the first question I had the honour of answering. There is more work to be done. This is not the end. If we look at training and education, I do not think there is anybody who would say that they are smart enough, have been trained enough and do not need any further training.

Judges Act  Madam Speaker, it is an honour to be here to put my comments and support on the record for Bill C-3. To understand this bill, it is important to back to where it came from. It is very fortunate that our former leader, Rona Ambrose, saw the need, saw the problem and looked for a solution.

COVID-19 Pandemic and Other Matters  Mr. Chair, I have a follow-up question about this proposed gun grab through a registry through a third-party program. Does the minister think that it will be less costly than the long-gun registry, or will it be more affordable?

COVID-19 Pandemic and Other Matters  Mr. Chair, the Conservative estimate for this program is over $10 billion. If you seriously want to reduce crime in Canada, you would not be spending $10 billion to buy back guns from law-abiding citizens. It makes no sense, Liberals. Wake up. This is an insane program that needs to be scrapped.

COVID-19 Pandemic and Other Matters  Mr. Chair, in late-breaking news today we have learned that the Liberals are now asking for proposals for a company to design their firearms gun grab program, a program designed to steal our freedoms under the cover of darkness with an order in council, a law that has not even been debated in the House of Commons.

Business of Supply  Mr. Speaker, I mean Madam Speaker, I am not used to having a female Speaker. We are very lucky federally to have female Speakers. I think having more females in roles such as that is encouraging. It encourages better decisions. It encouraged better debates, and the civility that we are lucky enough to have in this chamber has probably a lot to do with the good work that you bring forward.

Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, the member should know that this does not change the Standing Orders at all. This member, who has been here for many terms, does not realize that this does not change the Standing Order whatsoever.

Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, I will give a brief answer. “What went wrong with the Roughriders last year?” would be one of the debate questions I would like to put forward in the future. It was a terrible second half and I believe the Roughriders should have been playing better in the western final.

Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, it is not the opposition's role to pass the government's agenda. It is up to the government to manage the passage of the government's agenda. I believe the hon. member was incorrect and it was on Friday, not Thursday, that this occurred. On that day, once again it was up to the government to make sure that it properly proceeded to get its agenda across.

Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, the translation was not working for the first part of the member's question, but I believe it was about civility and respect of fellow members. I concur that this place works best when we respect each other as honourable colleagues. There is a part, though, of our Westminster democracy where we need to highlight the inaccuracy of other members.
