Public Safety  Mr. Speaker, while the Prime Minister was off wining and dining African dictators and kowtowing to Iranian despots, anti-energy activists were busy derailing the Canadian economy here at home. It has been nearly two weeks and the Prime Minister has done nothing to assure Canadians that the rule of law will be upheld.

This morning a group of extremists in British Columbia attempted to carry out a “citizen's arrest” on Premier John Horgan in his home.

Public Safety  Mr. Speaker, the man charged with murdering Marylène Levesque had killed his previous partner by beating her with a hammer and stabbing her in 2004. Last March, even though he was a significant risk to violently reoffend against women, the national Parole Board granted his parole and allowed him to have unsupervised contact with women in order to have his “sexual needs” met.

I move: That, notwithstanding any standing order or usual practice of the House: (a) the members to serve on the Standing Committee on Health be appointed by the whip of each recognized party depositing with the Clerk of the House a list of his or her party's members of the committee no later than the ordinary hour of daily adjournment today; (b) the Clerk of the House shall convene a meeting of the said committee no later than Wednesday, January 29, 2020 at 3:30 p.m.; (c) following the election of the Chair and the Vice Chairs, the committee shall proceed to a briefing from officials on the Canadian response to the outbreak of the coronavirus.

Veterans Affairs  Mr. Speaker, the Prime Minister made a convicted terrorist a multi-millionaire when he paid the murderer of U.S. army medic Christopher Speer ten and a half million dollars. The Supreme Court did not order any monetary compensation for Omar Khadr, but the Prime Minister said that because of the actions of the previous Martin Liberal government, he just had to write the cheque.

Oil Tanker Moratorium Act  Madam Speaker, when the government cancelled the northern gateway pipeline project and brought in the tanker ban, the Liberals tore $2 billion in equity away from the Aboriginal Equity Partners, $2 billion for aboriginal communities in northern B.C. where there is not much economic development.
