Cost of Living Relief Act, No. 2  Mr. Speaker, I thank my colleague from Sudbury for her speech. When we talk about this legislation, we must not forget that Quebec has already had coverage for 10 years and that we need to respect the jurisdiction of Quebec and the provinces. The impact of this bill is questionable, and it has been shown that these cheques may not help improve Quebeckers' dental health.

Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, I thank my hon. colleague from Timmins—James Bay for his speech. He talked mainly about food prices. It is important that we not confuse all the causes of rising food prices. We do not think that CEOs are the only ones to blame for the price increase. A unique set of circumstances involving a multitude of external factors is causing economic instability.

Food Day in Canada Act  Mr. Speaker, I am pleased to rise today to speak to Bill S‑227, an act to establish food day in Canada. The purpose of this bill is to establish the Saturday before the first Monday in August across the country as food day in Canada. I will say right away that the Bloc Québécois will be voting in favour of this bill as it addresses and highlights important issues in the lives of all Canadians and Quebeckers, issues that are ignored all too often.

Business of Supply  Mr. Speaker, I thank my colleague for her speech. I do not entirely agree with her and, more importantly, I do not share the same vision. I think it would be better to reduce our dependence on oil and accelerate the energy transition to protect our economy against sudden increases in the price of fossil fuels.

Business of Supply  Mr. Speaker, I thank my colleague for her speech. We keep hearing the Conservatives talk about cost increases, but they want to bring in a tax on home heating and a tax on groceries. I may have some solutions for my colleague: increase the purchasing power of seniors, who live on essentially fixed incomes, provide direct financial support to low-income people, or bring in a support program for those most affected by the sudden rise in gas prices, which is threatening their livelihoods, including farmers, taxi or Uber drivers and truckers.

Cost of Living Relief Act, No. 1  Mr. Speaker, I thank my colleague for his speech. Our thoughts are with the people in his large riding who may be affected by the hurricane. My question is about Bill C-30. We are well aware that inflation is still rising. It is affecting families, seniors and citizens. We know that, since July, the cost of goods and services in Canada has gone up by a shocking 7.6% compared to last year.

Canada Disability Benefit Act  Madam Speaker, I thank my colleague for his question. As it stands, the bill is promising. However, there are some shortcomings, as was mentioned earlier and as I said in my speech, including a timeline, ineligibility and the benefit amounts, which should be paid out monthly. It is important that we go to committee quickly to resolve this situation, and I hope that the government will support this request.

Canada Disability Benefit Act  Madam Speaker, my colleague just made a very interesting point. These individuals do need assistance and support. They have been waiting for several years. The time has come for the government to take action and provide them with financial support every month. They need to be given benefits to help them avoid poverty.

Canada Disability Benefit Act  Madam Speaker, Mr. Mailloux is indeed a true role model. He himself lives with a disability. Speaking with him helps others understand exactly what people with disabilities need, where they are coming from and where they want to go. Yes, we need to take action with this bill, and above all support them with the requests that have been made.

Canada Disability Benefit Act  Madam Speaker, I am pleased to rise today to speak to Bill C‑22. I will be sharing my time with my dear colleague, the member for Shefford. Bill C‑22 seeks to reduce poverty and to support the financial security of persons with disabilities by establishing the Canada disability benefit and making a consequential amendment to the Income Tax Act.

Canada Disability Benefit Act  Madam Speaker, I would like to thank my colleague for his speech. I want to start by saying that people with disabilities are already grieving because of their disability. There is no way of knowing when an accident is going to happen. People can lose a limb, or they can be born that way.
