Carbon Pricing  I would like to assure the House that Edmund is not some Conservative opinion. He is real. His gas bill is real. The $72 he paid in carbon taxes in December alone on his gas bill is real. The $9.41 of HST he paid on the carbon tax is very much real. The quarterly climate bribe this NDP-Liberal government loves to brag about works out to be $39 a month, but 72 is bigger than 39.

International Trade committee  There were riots in the streets in Ecuador previously, when the government moved to reduce gasoline subsidies and increase prices. Could you confirm that Canada is not going to introduce or insist on a carbon tax in this free trade agreement?

Environment committee  I move: Given that: Justin Trudeau’s Minister of Environment has publicly stated, “Our government has made the decision to stop investing in new road infrastructure”; Trudeau’s Minister of Environment has also stated that funding new roads and highways is not needed because public transit and current road infrastructure is good enough—while Canadians in large urban centres like Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal spend hours in traffic each week, and rural Canadians do not have access to public transit; Canadians living in rural and remote areas also rely on new roads and highways to raise their families; rural Canadians don’t have the luxury of being able to walk to work or to a doctor’s office; rural Canadians cannot rely on a subway to get to the nearest city, because there are no subway stations in rural communities; many municipal and provincial governments across Canada were rightfully outraged when Minister Guilbeault announced the Liberal government will stop funding new road infrastructure; Justin Trudeau’s Minister of Environment is also plowing ahead with his plan to ban all gas-powered, passenger vehicles, preventing millions of Canadians from using a vehicle; many Canadians, especially rural, northern and indigenous Canadians, are worried they won’t be able to live or work because Minister Guilbeault’s policies will directly deprive them of owning a vehicle; no material purchase provides Canadians with more freedom to live and work than the purchase of a personal vehicle, especially in a nation as large as Canada; the recent announcement from Minister Guilbeault to stop funding new roads and highways comes at a time when Justin Trudeau is deliberately increasing the price of fuel on Canadians; the Liberal government plans to increase their failed-carbon tax on April 1 by 23%; the Minister of Environment also stated earlier this month that “the government does not measure the annual amount of emissions that are directly—

Criminal Code  The Liberal government's approach to expanding MAID shows a wider trend of hasty law-making that leads to policies being introduced, then pulled back or changed after facing reality and public criticism. From errors in firearms legislation to heated debates on the carbon tax, the government often acts first and thinks later. This not only damages our law-making process but also lowers public trust in our ability to govern wisely and carefully. The rush to include mental illness in MAID, without proper evidence or full discussions with mental health experts, ethicists and affected groups, shows a lack of regard for the careful and expert-led discussions that such a major policy change requires.

Carbon Pricing  I have talked to moms who are skipping meals, simply so they can feed their children; however, for this extremist NDP-Liberal coalition, this is not enough. It is going to continue punishing Canadians, raising the carbon tax on April 1. The question is simple: Will it do the right thing and axe the tax?

Environment committee  I'll reiterate what we're asking the committee to consider: The committee call on the Liberal government to cancel their planned tax hike on April 1, 2024; abandon their plan to quadruple the carbon tax to provide Canadians financial relief on their gas, groceries and home heating; acknowledge that the carbon tax is not an environmental plan, it's a tax plan; and that the committee report [this] to the House.

International Trade committee  As we know, the last time the Government of Ecuador attempted to remove a fossil fuel subsidy from gasoline and diesel, there were riots, and the army had to be called in. I can only imagine that something like a carbon tax would be untenable in a situation like this.

Finance committee  Unless inflation comes down to target, we should do everything we can to reduce people's taxes, not increase them. We know that the carbon tax is also going to increase, on top of the payroll tax that happened January 1. That is less money in people's pockets as well. We just had witnesses here who talked about shelter costs and then we talked about food.

Carbon Pricing  Speaker, the Prime Minister wasted $60 million on his corrupt ArriveCAN app. Now he is asking Canadians for even more money through the carbon tax, which the Bloc wants to radically increase. After eight years under this government, everything is more expensive. Worse still, the Bloc is supporting Liberal policies. Can the Prime Minister confirm that he will scrap the carbon tax in order to give Canadians a little more breathing room?

Agriculture committee  The carbon tax is.... It would be nice if we didn't have to pay that, or not get exempt.... If we had to pay it, and then we could take that money and invest it into being sustainable....

Carbon Pricing  An Alberta leadership candidate said, “There's no way people can be on board with the federal plan when even the prime minister isn’t on board, when he’s playing games with it” and that the federal carbon levy is “dead”. Another candidate said we must move away from a consumer carbon tax. When he loses the support of the far left Alberta NDP, the minister must know he has a problem. Will he cancel his carbon tax before April 1, once and for all?

Finance committee  There is less and less business, especially over the weekends, because fewer people are going out to restaurants and bars to spend money due to the increases in this excise tax. On April 1 the tax on alcohol will go up. That's on top of the carbon tax hike and the payroll tax increases this January. We know that this Liberal government's out-of-control deficit spending caused 40-year highs in inflation, forcing the Bank of Canada to raise its interest rates, leaving Canadians with the highest cost of living ever.

Liberal Party of Canada  With inflation eating away at earnings and with families having to cut back on gas, heat and groceries, the Prime Minister wants to increase the carbon tax by another 23% on April 1. It is all part of the Liberal-NDP plan to quadruple the tax on the backs of hard-working Canadians. In my riding, the Lacombe Legion paid an extra $2,000 last year just for the carbon tax.

Human Resources committee  You mentioned that you're paying the carbon tax. You're trying your best to reduce that expense by lowering your heat and air conditioning. You're being smart about where you shop in order to maximize your funds. What do you think would be an idea for something this government could do to help seniors in your position?

Human Resources committee  It's not like you're working and driving every day. You obviously plan your day to reduce the cost of your gas, which now, with the carbon tax going up on April 1, will add to your budget. How is that going to impact your groceries?
