Emergencies Act  Madam Speaker, I thank my colleague for his question. I have a message for him. Everything changes. This too shall pass. We must remain strong and proud. We must support one another, help those who need our help, share our strengths and weaknesses, face challenges with dignity, and spread joy, peace and love wherever we go.

Emergencies Act  Madam Speaker, I feel nostalgic as I rise this afternoon to participate in the debate on the Emergencies Act. I remember when I first arrived in Parliament in February 2006, bright-eyed and full of hope. To me, Parliament represented everything that was good: freedom, democracy and mutual respect.

COVID-19 Emergency Response  Mr. Speaker, according to official House documents, 1,610 people with addresses outside Canada received CERB. It is called the Canada emergency response benefit, not the international benefit. Not one person in this government did a single thing to prevent the loss of $11.9 million.

The Economy  Mr. Speaker, the price of regular gas in Quebec has reached an unprecedented high of more than $1.60 per litre. This inflation is going to impact everything that is transported across Canada. In the meantime, the Prime Minister seems to have been caught off guard by what is happening.

Réal Gagné  Mr. Speaker, I would like to pay tribute to an extraordinary man who left us far too soon, Réal Gagné. International Trade  Mr. Speaker, the minister is still not giving us straight answers about dairy products crossing the border and, more specifically, about measures to monitor compliance with our free trade agreements. What assurances can the minister offer Canadian dairy producers about measures being taken to make sure the quantity of dairy products crossing the border is in line with our trade agreements?

International Trade  Mr. Speaker, the last free trade agreement with the United States was devastating for Canadian dairy farmers. Now our American neighbours have gained market share on our Canadian dairy products because of that free trade agreement. Can the Minister of International Trade confirm that the Americans are respecting the agreement signed between the two countries?

150th Anniversary of Saint‑Narcisse‑de‑Beaurivage  Mr. Speaker, I am honoured to recognize the 150th anniversary of my hometown of Saint‑Narcisse‑de‑Beaurivage, which will take place in 2022. The people there are friendly, hardworking and always willing to lend others a helping hand. They are proud of their roots and plan to pay tribute to the legacy passed on by previous generations in their own way.

Employment  Mr. Speaker, the manufacturing industry in the greater Chaudière-Appalaches region is currently losing $7 million a day in production as a result of the labour shortage in Quebec. The industry needs temporary foreign workers right now in order to get the job done. Will the government present a plan to simplify the approval process for temporary foreign workers?

Employment  Mr. Speaker, the government needs to implement a plan to save Quebec's manufacturing industry as quickly as possible. Anything less will not do. The government needs to make the labour shortage a priority before our businesses move to other parts of the world because of this government's lack of leadership.

Labour  Mr. Speaker, this week I listened to, read and re-read this Liberal government's Speech from the Throne. Unfortunately, it does not mention the labour shortage that is plaguing all of Quebec, including my hard-hit region, Chaudière‑Appalaches. That is a veritable scandal, especially after we held an election for absolutely nothing.

Violence Against Women  Madam Speaker, the fight to end violence against women is a critical issue for our country and one that requires action and political decisions. All leaders in the House of Commons and the Senate need to set partisanship aside and take a firm stand on this issue. Will the government support Bill S-231 and Bill C-293 and help move them forward as quickly as possible before this session of Parliament ends?
