Broadcasting Act  Mr. Speaker, a tremendous number of speakers have spoken to this issue in the last two days. I could ditto what my colleague from Saskatoon had to say. He was fantastic. He knows the industry. There have been some great speeches and a lot of good questions. Some people may remember when they had to turn the channel on the TV, but let us go back a little further.

Cystic Fibrosis  Mr. Speaker, Canadians living with cystic fibrosis need the government to deliver for them. Patients across Canada, like my constituents Martin in Taber and Amanda in Chestermere, have been advocating fiercely for Health Canada to provide the potential life-saving drug Trikafta.

Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, the member is well versed in many things, and I would like to ask him about indigenous housing. It has come up a number of times. I have visited with the Siksika Nation in my riding, and they talk about the housing issues they face and the 2,500 homes that will be built across the country.

Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, my colleague is very knowledgeable in the area of housing, and I am not as knowledgeable. My understanding from the Siksika Nation is that they talk about 2,500 housing units being built across Canada per year. He has mentioned this a number of times. How would the member envision the numbers and what would he advise?

Petitions  Madam Speaker, I would like to present two petitions today. The first petition draws attention to what is happening in China by the Communist government against the Uighur population. The human rights violations by the Communist government, as reported by the Canadian press, need to be dealt with.

Petitions  Madam Speaker, the second petition is in regard to illegal trade in human organs from people who do not understand what is happening. That illegal trade in organs that is going on in the world needs to be stopped. Therefore, the petitioners are petitioning against the trade and illegal transport of organs and donations.

Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, tourism is important. I enjoy visiting my colleague's part of Canada. It is a beautiful place in our country, which has an industry that has been hurt. However, there are two parts to this: We need to protect lives and we need to protect livelihoods. If we do not protect people's livelihoods, their lives will be challenging.

Veterans Affairs  Mr. Speaker, last week I met virtually with Royal Canadian Legion branches in my riding like Brooks, Strathmore, Taber and Standard. They told me they were in a desperate situation. They have lost their usual sources of funding and they may have to close permanently. They feel like they have been left twisting in the wind by the government's promises.

Bills of Exchange Act  Mr. Speaker, on the technicality of that, I was sitting here and I did not realize who said what. I just assumed it was coming to committee. The heritage committee is meeting right now and the parliamentary secretary is at that meeting, scheduling Bill C-5 to come before it. I was looking forward to it coming to committee, not from the point of view of voting against it but to learn more about those things and having witnesses come to speak to us about that.

Bills of Exchange Act  Mr. Speaker, as we know, committees are the master of their own destiny. That is what I hear year after year. What happens in a particular committee? That will be interesting, as it always is. We do not know that destiny because we are not there yet. I will be interested in it at committee and my support in this bill is as it was last time.

Bills of Exchange Act  Mr. Speaker, I appreciate the compliment from my colleague. Again, we both share the interest in history and would like to make sure people are aware of it. Is there any information she could share with me? We get a lot, so anything she could remind me of would be great. However, I will tell members a problem that we have, The heritage committee has a study and now we have brought it back.

Bills of Exchange Act  Mr. Speaker, it has been an interesting day listening to speeches. I worked last night on this intervention. It is challenging, in the sense of my background and culture. It takes me back to the heritage committee when we dealt with this topic, and my understanding and knowledge were lacking.

Natural Resources  Mr. Speaker, it is not just Alberta that is suffering under the government's anti-resource ideology. The natural resource minister's province of Newfoundland is seeing the $2 billion west White Rose project thrown into jeopardy. One Newfoundlander from Marystown echoed the feelings of energy workers across the country, saying, “It puts food on our tables, roofs over our head, clothes on our back and gas in our car.”

Criminal Code  Madam Speaker, I appreciate the expertise that my hon. colleague brings to this issue as a doctor. When my elderly father was facing surgery, we had in place and discussed with a surgeon a do-not-resuscitate order. My father was very angry after the surgery because they resuscitated him, but as the doctor pointed out, he signed an oath and found it very difficult to deal with this issue.

Lobster Fishery Dispute in Nova Scotia  Mr. Speaker, one of the things we often hear in questioning is an impugning of the RCMP. I find this a challenge. The RCMP on the ground is working very hard. One of the challenges the RCMP has is how severely undermanned it is. The numbers are in the double digits across the country.
