Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, I believe that my colleague is talking about francophone immigration targets outside Quebec. Obviously, they have not been met. It is a major problem and I hope that the NDP MPs will bend the ear of their government friends more often. Nonetheless, today we are talking about targets that dilute the French fact in Quebec.

Business of Supply  That is not quite right, Madam Speaker. My aim is simply that full authority be given to the parliament where 100% of the seats belong to us. To my mind, that would settle the matter. Canada could certainly set its own thresholds. The fear we have is about the French fact in Quebec.

Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, since my colleague worked on the broadcasting file, I think he would know how hard it is to get the message across that we need policies that support our cultural community and give them some leverage. I think that the history of Quebec shows it. Just look at the Charter of the French Language.

Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, Ottawa appears to want a post-national update to Canada 3.0. The feds have given a multinational firm, a state within a state, the sprawling McKinsey firm, the lucrative mandate to set immigration thresholds, an incredibly important aspect of public policy. The matter is settled and the PR campaign is implacable.

Privilege  Mr. Speaker, I agree with most of what my colleague said in his speech. We had this vote today, and a majority of the House has spoken. The opposition parties joined together to pass this motion, which instructs the government to launch a public inquiry and create a registry. If the government fails to follow through, we will be forced to consider it untrustworthy and unwilling to follow instructions passed by a democratic vote in the House.

Liberal Party of Canada  Mr. Speaker, the Liberal Party held its convention on the weekend, to the dismay of those Liberals who had better things to do than to discuss their ideas. On Saturday morning, thousands of delegates could have discussed inflation, the housing crisis, the fight against climate change, or Chinese interference.

Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, I am pleased to hear that question from my colleague. His tone is much more appropriate for today's debate than some of the language we heard earlier from that side of the House. I welcome that. This matter relates to national security, and if interference has occurred, there must be human beings somewhere behind it.

Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, in this kind of situation, the bare minimum would have been to inform the member. Based on the information we have today, the member was not informed, despite some speculation. The minimum would have been to inform the member and offer him all the supports needed in this kind of situation.

Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, that always depends on whom one wants to be quarrelsome with. I tend to be diplomatically inclined myself, but I do believe we need to seek the truth. I do not doubt the member's integrity in the least, but we need to seek the truth. We need to get to the bottom of this.

Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, welcome to “Chinada”. As Canada is perfectly fine with being a post-national laggard, as it settles into the comfortable position of “everyone gets along, everything is fine and dandy”, the People's Republic of China is taking advantage of western naivety to become a conquering empire.

Budget Implementation Act, 2023, No. 1  Madam Speaker, I am very pleased to hear my colleague talk about the importance of agriculture. If that is the case, I would like to know why, in the Standing Committee on International Trade, I sat through several filibusters on a bill that protects and promotes our agricultural model.

Fighting Against Forced Labour and Child Labour in Supply Chains Act  Madam Speaker, I thank my colleagues for their solidarity. I just wanted to add that all of this, along with the Bloc Québécois amendments that were rejected in committee, unfortunately mean that we must oppose the bill.

Fighting Against Forced Labour and Child Labour in Supply Chains Act  Madam Speaker, I rise to speak this evening as the Bloc Québécois critic for international trade. The themes we are discussing are definitely linked to this issue. Of course, we are all in favour of trade, but not at any environmental, human or social cost. I believe that this means that we should study this bill very diligently.

Aviation Industry  Mr. Speaker, that was not particularly convincing. To sum up, Ottawa is pushing aside Quebec's expertise and opting for American planes that even the Americans do not want. This is high treason towards our aerospace industry. Quebec has all the components to assemble an aircraft from A to Z.

Aviation Industry  Mr. Speaker, Quebec was already outraged to see Ottawa offer Boeing a $9-billion contract for military aircraft without a call for tenders and without a penny in spinoffs for Quebec. However, it is worse now that we know that the American jets that Ottawa wants to buy are lemons.
