Finance committee  I'm not sure if the proper way to say it is “value” or “values” because, in the title of the book, he has the “s” inside brackets, which is, I think, intended to demonstrate the question of what is a value and what are values at the same time. It is a legitimate sort of literary device, although it makes it somewhat ambiguous to know how the title should be read out.

Criminal Code  The House proceeded to the consideration of Bill S-224, An Act to amend the Criminal Code (trafficking in persons), as reported (with amendments) from the committee.

Criminal Code  There are two motions in amendment standing on the Notice Paper for the report stage of Bill S-224. Motions Nos. 1 and 2 will be grouped for debate and voted upon according to the voting pattern available at the table. I will now put Motions Nos. 1 and 2 to the House.

Environment committee  Okay. I'll do that. You are no doubt aware of Bill S-243, which is being studied in the Senate. Are you in favour of some aspects of this bill?

Environment committee  The investments you select have to meet very strict criteria, based among other things on compliance with the Climate Bonds Taxonomy. My first question is: Are you familiar with Bill S-243, An Act to enact the Climate-Aligned Finance Act and to make related amendments to other Acts, sponsored by Senator Rosa Galvez? You're indicating that you are. Given the market you work in, do you think this bill would have a positive impact on the stability of Canadian financial markets?

Environment committee  They're basically signing up for investing in less than one-half of the investable market. Of the 500 corporations in the S&P; 500, only 230 are currently fully aligned with net-zero 2050. Why would anybody decide that they're going to invest in only those companies when in fact it is the browner ones that have the chance of becoming better corporations and outperforming over time?

Health  Speaker, my province of Prince Edward Island has saved more than $2 million in out-of-pocket costs since the launch of P.E.I.'s copay program last year. This federal funding for P.E.I. has improved access to prescription drugs and made them more affordable for Islanders. The success of this pilot can be replicated across the country.

Public Safety committee  On that point, I would ask that you look for additional resources for future meetings, given that the Conservatives want to continue filibustering to avoid getting to Bill S-210. We're prepared to let them speak and filibuster as long as it takes, because we want to actually get down to work on the business of this committee.

Public Safety committee  It's unfortunate that motion failed, since Mr. Kurek wanted to hear from me. I'm hoping Mr. Viersen can turn his remarks back to S-210 and, again, as a champion for protecting children, say why he's—

Public Safety committee  Having said that, I have some questions for him. What is the Conservative Party's position on Bill S‑210? Is he filibustering today because he doesn't want to study this bill? In answering my questions, he could say something other than what he's talking about now.

Finance committee  I did make the observation that he has seemed to prefer the gentle halls of softball interviews to the substantive opportunities for discourse of a potentially sharper nature that one might find in the hallowed halls of this great institution. Mr. Carney's core thesis in his—at least by Liberals—much-discussed book, Value(s), is what might be described as stakeholder capitalism. It's the idea of stakeholder capitalism. In that sense, his thesis is fairly similar to a book written by Klaus Schwab called Stakeholder Capitalism, which also provides that argument.

Fall Economic Statement Implementation Act, 2023  Complementing the changes introduced in Bill C-56, which I mentioned a few moments ago, Bill C-59's suite of amendments to the Competition Act and the Competition Tribunal Act would provide Canadians with more modern and effective competition laws. As everyone knows in this House, I love capitalism and wealth creation, which lead to higher standards of living, but what I do not like is corporate concentration and measures that are introduced that are anti-competitive by organizations and companies, and that is why we need guardrails.

Finance committee  It's a very good lesson for those people who go on podcasts to think about what the transcript will look like when you're done, because, oh my gosh, was that garbled. All I did was just read it like it was provided. I feel that Mr. Carney's book, Value(s), would be.... It has obviously been edited, so it's probably written in a way that's more consumable. If I thought that Mr. Carney would give me royalties on narrating that book, I think I would do the audio version.

Mental Health and Addictions  From the outset, we have been clear. B.C.'s exemption could and will be adjusted if needed.
