Foreign Investment  Mr. Speaker, we have clearly demonstrated under the Investment Canada Act that we have the tools necessary to make sure that we address our national interests. With regard to any concerns around intellectual property, as the member knows full well, we just recently launched Canada's first national IP strategy.

Foreign Investment  Mr. Speaker, I can assure the member opposite that under the Investment Canada Act we followed the process. We made sure we did our due diligence, that we did our homework. We also worked with and co-ordinated with the provincial government to look at any of the regulations and concerns raised by the member opposite with respect to the minister of health in British Columbia.

Foreign Investment  Mr. Speaker, the member opposite knows full well that under the Investment Canada Act we have a very robust and rigorous process that examines all these issues. With respect to the issues regarding health care services, the provincial government is responsible for that. This is part of the arrangement in the compliance agreement.

Automotive Industry  Mr. Speaker, I am glad that the member is very excited about this topic, because he was at the announcements we made when we invested over $5.6 million in the automotive sector since forming government. This has helped create thousands of jobs in our economy. We are going to continue to focus on the automotive sector.

That is why we put forward regulations to protect Canadians under the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act, PIPEDA. This applies to private entities.

That is why in the budget we clearly outlined a plan to make sure that we have a process in place to secure pensions. This has been a priority for our government. Aerospace Industry  Mr. Speaker, I want to thank my colleague for his question. He is right, the aerospace industry is very important for Canada. That is why we have invested roughly $50 million. This investment is for the aerospace consortium led by Bell Helicopter. This will help create 300 good-quality middle-class jobs.

That is why in the last budget, we put forward a plan to make sure there was a whole-of-government approach when it comes to strengthening pensions. We have been very clear about income security, making sure that we provide the adequate resources for those individuals who retire to make sure they have the support they need to retire with dignity.

This is something that we took precision around in terms of the Investment Canada Act process. We understand the important concerns raised by the members opposite, but I can assure the member and the House that we always have and always will continue to advance our national interest and do what is in the best interests of all Canadians.

He knows full well that under the CCAA process, Sears went under a restructuring and refinancing process that unfortunately did not work out well.
