The Environment  Mr. Speaker, I would like to thank my colleague for his dedication and his passion for this issue. It is evident in the way that he delivers his remarks in the House. Our government is serious about changing the relationship Canada has with indigenous peoples, and I would like to reassure my colleague and all members of the House that the Crown will execute its consultation and accommodation obligations in accordance with its constitutional and international human rights obligations, including aboriginal and treaty rights.

The Environment  Mr. Speaker, I am pleased to address the question by the hon. member for Nanaimo—Ladysmith regarding the Site C project. In the fall of 2014, the former government approved the project and set legally binding conditions with which the proponent must comply. The Impact Assessment Agency of Canada conducts inspection activities to verify that BC Hydro is in compliance with conditions included in the environmental assessment decision statement.

Natural Resources  Mr. Speaker, there is a familiar argument on that side of the floor and one that we have seen many times before. While I am heartened to hear the member supporting Canadian LNG, I know that it is a driver of the economy across the country, particularly in his region, so it is disappointing to hear him opposing sustainable resource development, the centrepiece of the Impact Assessment Act.

Natural Resources  Mr. Speaker, let us look at recent investments in Canada's LNG industry. LNG Canada is making the single-largest private sector investment in Canadian history. That is a $40 billion investment in Canada's economy. This project is expected to create up to 10,000 good, well-paying jobs at the height of its construction.

Foreign Affairs  Mr. Speaker, I am pleased to have this opportunity to speak about this issue from the member for Sherwood Park—Fort Saskatchewan. I would like to remind my hon. colleague that Canada has already put in place a series of strong measures to hold Iran accountable for its support of terrorism.

Foreign Affairs  Mr. Speaker, I believe I did answer the question, but I will repeat some of what I said for my hon. colleague. The listing of entities is an ongoing process. Government officials continue to assess all groups and monitor new developments regarding potential entities that could be listed.

Carbon Pricing  Mr. Speaker, our government knows that Canadian farmers are part of the climate change solution. That is why our pollution pricing policy reflects the realities of Canada's agricultural industry. Both gasoline and diesel fuels for on-farm use will be exempted from pricing pollution under the federal backstop.

Carbon Pricing  Mr. Speaker, let us be clear. Canadians voted for climate action. We have a credible and affordable plan with over 50 measures to cut pollution, support clean growth and make life more affordable for Canadians. We put a price on carbon pollution because it is a cost-effective way to cut emissions and create good jobs while leaving the majority of families better off.

The Environment  Mr. Speaker, I would like to thank my hon. colleague for her question. We are working in a constructive manner with all of Canada's provinces and territories. Environmental issues have a federal and a provincial component, and it is important that we work together on these issues.

Vaudreuil—Soulanges  Mr. Speaker, this being the first time I have the floor in the 43rd Parliament, I would like to express my gratitude to the people of Vaudreuil—Soulanges for placing their trust in me once again. I would also like to thank all the volunteers who give their time to help our community all year long and especially during the holidays.

The Environment  Mr. Speaker, I will reiterate. We worked with provinces, territories and indigenous communities and businesses for two years to develop an approach to carbon pricing that worked for the different regions in our vast country. We have worked to ensure that it would be fair, effective and meet minimum stringency requirements.

The Environment  Madam Speaker, first I would like to clarify one thing for my hon. colleague. It was the Conservative prime minister, Stephen Harper, who came into power and cut subsidies for hybrid vehicles and electric vehicles. I remember that because I bought one of those vehicles and was not able to benefit.

Vaudreuil—Soulanges  Mr. Speaker, not quite four years ago, the people of Vaudreuil—Soulanges chose to trust me to speak on their behalf here in Ottawa, where decisions are made. We have made a lot of progress, and we have done so by working together. That is why I wanted to thank all my community leaders for championing progress.

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship  Mr. Speaker, the Conservatives want to make us think that they want to protect our borders and change the safe third country agreement, but their record definitely proves otherwise. The Conservatives cut $1.2 billion from the budgets of our security agencies and, what is more, during their 10 years in power they did not hold any discussions with the U.S. about changing and improving the safe third country agreement.

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship  Mr. Speaker, I apologize on behalf of all the children and young people who show up at our border without a passport. Here are the facts. Our government managed to reduce by 45% the number of asylum seekers coming across our border irregularly. Unlike the Conservative government, the Liberal government invested to give the outstanding individuals who work for the CBSA and the RCMP the resources they need to do their job, which is to ensure that no one enters Canada without undergoing a security check or—
