Canada-Ukraine Free Trade Agreement Implementation Act, 2023  Madam Speaker, I am not sure why the discussion is focused on a carbon tax right now. When we are talking about this important issue, I am reflecting on the conversations that I am having with people who are arriving in my riding of Nanaimo—Ladysmith fleeing the war in Ukraine.

Canada-Ukraine Free Trade Agreement Implementation Act, 2023  That would immediately impact the people that she just talked about, but she should also be trying to lower the cost of living in Canada and fight for climate change by axing the carbon tax.

Canada-Ukraine Free Trade Agreement Implementation Act, 2023  There are a lot of things we would like to do, but we certainly do not want to inflict a carbon tax on it that is already doubling costs in Canada and causing unaffordability.

Canada-Ukraine Free Trade Agreement Implementation Act, 2023  Madam Speaker, I do not think that the Liberal government can fix anything at all when it comes to corruption, because they are experts in the matter. We have signed many agreements with other countries and none of them mention the carbon tax. Why does the Canada-Ukraine agreement now talk about that? I do not know. We would support the agreement if any mention of carbon pricing were removed and replaced with something else.

Canada-Ukraine Free Trade Agreement Implementation Act, 2023  I am wondering if the member hears from those in her Ukraine community how concerned they are that the Conservatives are simply not supporting this when they do not see any attachment to a carbon tax. It just does not make sense to a sovereign nation.

Carbon Pricing  Mr. Speaker, another year means another carbon tax increase on April 1. It was -50°C in some places in this country where Canadians cannot even afford to heat their homes. Yesterday, the finance minister lectured Canadians on her out-of-touch version of events, and then we learned that the Liberals were going to change the name of the carbon tax.

Greenhouse Gas Pollution Pricing Act  At the end of the day, if it accomplishes one thing, it is to cut the carbon tax on farming. It is an inflationary tax, it is relentless, it is indexed and it will continue to rise. At the end of the day, if the members of Parliament in the House could cut this tax, it would provide relief to farmers.

Fall Economic Statement Implementation Act, 2023  I hope that the Conservatives and Liberals get cleaner than that when they shower. It is all the same. The carbon tax does not apply in Quebec. They sounded so foolish that they stopped saying it. There is a reason why they are against the carbon tax in the other provinces. If there is no more carbon tax, then emissions will rise, and they will be able to impose more taxes on Quebeckers and give more subsidies to oil companies with Quebeckers' tax dollars.

Fall Economic Statement Implementation Act, 2023  Municipalities and police services are also being impacted. In Saskatchewan, the impact of inflation and the carbon tax is directly affecting its budgets, which are now increasing in double digits in communities in my riding, in my province and in this country. The impacts will be negative. School budgets will be cut.

Fall Economic Statement Implementation Act, 2023  It is incredible how cold it was in Edmonton, -50°C, and the Liberal member for Edmonton Centre voted to tax the heat of Edmontonians. Not only that, the Liberal member for Edmonton Centre wants to quadruple the carbon tax on the home heat of Edmontonians, so over the next several years, as the winter cold comes in and people crank up their heat, their bills will rise increasingly faster. In some places now the carbon tax is more expensive than the actual gas that people are buying.

Carbon Tax  The Prime Minister wants to quadruple the carbon tax from 14¢ per litre to 61¢ per litre. Farmers in my communities are paying thousands of dollars in carbon tax every month. The Prime Minister is just not worth the cost. The carbon tax carve-out is necessary for farmers to help fight food inflation.

Greenhouse Gas Pollution Pricing Act  I regret very much that the state of debate around the carbon tax is that it has been reduced to a rhyme on a bumper sticker. That is a great disservice to the very clear and present danger that climate change presents to our agricultural sector.

Greenhouse Gas Pollution Pricing Act  We need to give farmers access to the technology that we are asking them to have but that they are unable to get. That is the key. We must not forget that the the carbon tax is a federal tax. It was created for the provinces that were doing nothing for the environment. We need to think about that too. If we were to do away with the carbon tax, as the Conservatives are proposing, what message would that send to the other governments?

Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, the Conservatives' idea of cleaning the air is taking CBC/Radio Canada off the airwaves. They are so determined to try to prove that the federal carbon tax applies in Quebec that their colleague, the member for Bellechasse—Les Etchemins—Lévis, showed up in the House with a bill and gave false information to parliamentarians. She had with her bill that had to do with the emissions trading system in Quebec.

Fall Economic Statement Implementation Act, 2023  The finance minister suggested that cancelling one's Disney+ subscription would fix the issue. She is on the right track, but it is not Disney+ that needs to be cancelled. It is the carbon tax. Since the NDP-Liberal government refuses to do that, it is time it was cancelled. Let us take a look at the impacts of the carbon tax. Farmers who grow the food are taxed. What is the result?
