Emergencies Act  Speaker, at one point the hon. member asked how we got to this point. She then proceeded to blame everybody else, including Ontario Premier Doug Ford, but failed to place any blame on her own Prime Minister for wedging, stigmatizing and dividing people, calling them racist, misogynist and extremist, and asking whether we have to tolerate these people.

Online Streaming Act  I look to the member for Carleton, an Ontario member of Parliament. We are in Ontario, and Premier Doug Ford has mandated masks in the work environment. Should we not be wearing masks?

Public Safety committee  Toronto's mayor, John Tory, claimed that people were getting out on bail 20 minutes after they were arrested for a gun crime, and Doug Ford jumped on that bandwagon as well, saying that many criminals convicted of gun crimes are back out on the streets the very next day. To put it bluntly, Tory and Ford are lying. That's not true and it's not backed up by any data.

COVID-19 Protests  Speaker, members will forgive me if they thought I was sitting in Queen's Park, as the hon. colleague for York—Simcoe opposite highlighted school closures, the gym that was facing troubles and, of course, businesses. I presume he will not be voting for Doug Ford in the upcoming election in Ontario, because that is the government that is imposing those elements. However, I will agree with the member opposite that we do need to transition beyond COVID.

Resumption of Debate on Address in Reply  The thing that is fascinating about Neskantaga and Marten Falls is that they are located in a place that many Canadians have heard of, the Ring of Fire. We hear about the great riches of the Ring of Fire. Doug Ford said he was going to drive a bulldozer to the Ring of Fire. The nation of Canada's focus has always been on getting the resources out of the ground, yet we have children who cannot go to school because of chronic underfunding.

Resumption of Debate on Address in Reply  Every province and territory in Canada has now signed on except Ontario, and families in some jurisdictions are already seeing significant savings. Unfortunately for families in Ontario, Premier Doug Ford and his Conservative government continue to stall and play political games. If my colleagues from Ontario across the aisle are serious about helping families deal with the cost of living, I would encourage them to urge their provincial cousins to get on board.

Resumption of Debate on Address in Reply  It is also essential to our economic recovery. We all know that, yet with each passing day Ontario families are paying the price for Doug Ford’s inaction. As I near the end of my allotted time, I would be remiss if I did not highlight some of the outstanding organizations in my riding that work tirelessly to support residents and contribute so much to building a strong, inclusive, supportive Canada.

Government Operations committee  Housefather's points on the WTO.... I mean, how many times has Justin Trudeau said “made-in-Canada solution”? I have Doug Ford's “made-in-Ontario solution”. I'm sure Monsieur Legault had a “made-in-Quebec solution”. In Navdeep Bains' words, “made-in-Canada supply is essential.” Minister Anand, who was at that time public service and procurement minister, right here in Ontario said, “Made in Canada.

Criminal Code  He plunged Alberta into medical chaos and caused the deaths of too many innocent people. I think of Doug Ford. As people were dying in warehouses in Peel, Brampton and the 401 and 905 areas, he was not willing to put paid sick leave in. In fact, he recently said he believed that come January there would be no need for vaccine mandates.

Business of Supply  There are workers and racialized workers dying in horrific numbers while we see the absolute negligence in Ontario of the Doug Ford government. This is another failure of the Liberals. They do not mind that Doug Ford is looking like a complete buffoon in his negligence, and they are more than willing to say that it is a provincial jurisdiction.

Transport committee  You needn't take our word for it. Just look at what Doug Ford has done in Ontario. By the Ford government's own admission, they 've missed two construction seasons by putting slogans ahead of actual objectives and seeking political victories when they should have tried to start up projects.

Human Resources committee  Direct transfers for long-term care were part of that block funding as well. Doug Ford, in our province of Ontario, boasted that he was going to put an “iron ring” around long-term care with these new federal dollars, but we saw even worse results in the second wave than we saw in the first wave.

Budget Implementation Act, 2021, No. 1  We should not have people getting sick and dying this far into the pandemic. This is the result of the negligence of premiers such as Pallister, Jason Kenney and Doug Ford, who have completely ignored their obligations. They were not working without a road map. We knew what the problem was. We needed to fix it. Instead, they have left people at risk, particularly in far north indigenous communities.

Budget Implementation Act, 2021, No. 1  We remember Premier Kenney dismissed COVID as less harmful than influenza, yet we see the ICUs in Alberta being overrun and 25,000-plus deaths in this country. Premier Doug Ford promised to use an “iron ring” to protect seniors in long-term care. The only thing he did was put an iron ring around the investors to keep them from being charged for the horrific negligence that caused the deaths of our loved ones, parents, cousins and grandparents in long-term care facilities.

Laurentian University in Sudbury  She phoned me and said she was going to go to university next year. She asked where she will go now. Doug Ford and his buddies probably do not think it is a problem if people are in Kapuskasing or Hearst. He would say they should just go to Toronto or Guelph. They cannot. Laurentian makes that possible.
