Holiday Season  Mr. Speaker, I want to encourage my constituents and those across the country to shop local this Christmas. This year has been tough, especially for small businesses. Many small business owners I have spoken to since the pandemic began say they are barely hanging on. No matter how difficult the circumstances, small businesses truly are the foundation of our communities.

The Environment  Mr. Speaker, the Liberal clean fuel standard will increase the cost of fuel by 4¢ per litre. This increase in cost will have disproportionate effects on Canadians living in rural areas, like so many of my constituents. Rural Canadians do not have the same transportation options as those in urban centres.

Veterans Affairs  Madam Speaker, many Royal Canadian Legions across my riding have expressed financial concerns since the outbreak of COVID. The legions continually support veterans in these difficult times. Branch No. 8 in Rocky Mountain House contacted the Minister of Veterans Affairs and was told that an aid package was in the works, but that was over a month ago.

Criminal Code  Mr. Speaker, about an hour ago, I asked this same question to a Liberal member. I asked about the clergy potentially getting criminal charges if they were to speak to an LGBTQ person. I was told that they were not going to be prosecutions for any of these violations, yet the member is telling me that, under this proposed legislation, there would be.

Criminal Code  Mr. Speaker, a few months ago, I met with various clergy from different denominations. When we brought up Bill C-6, I thought they were going to say that through prayer they could actually change someone, but that was far from the truth. They were very concerned that, by having a conversation with someone who is gay, lesbian or transgender, they could be persecuted or prosecuted for a crime.

Natural Resources  Madam Speaker, the NOVA Gas Transmission pipeline was to start construction this summer across most of my riding, but on May 19, after cabinet already took the maximum 90-day limit to review, it received notice that the Governor in Council extended the timeline by as much as 150 days because of COVID-19.

Internet Service  Madam Speaker, in my riding, many constituents are not able to get Internet service and for those who have Internet, some cannot afford it. Internet is not a luxury; it is an essential service for everyday life. My riding has a population density of 1.3 people per square kilometre.

Resumption of Debate on Address in Reply  Mr. Speaker, my colleague and I sat on the agriculture committee together and his numbers are not quite correct. He said there was $270 million for the COVID-19 fund relief but actually $125 million of that was pre-existing money. Liberals spun it as a new program even though that program has existed every year since 2008, so they have not really given this quite as much money as they believe they have.

Natural Resources  Mr. Speaker, last December, the environment minister declined to order an impact assessment of the Bighorn mine outside of Hinton, saying that it would be dealt with by provincial approval. However, on July 30, ministerial discretion was used to designate the Vista mine expansion to be under federal review.

Natural Resources  Mr. Speaker, I rise today regarding the layoffs recently announced at Suncor Energy. A total of 15% of Suncor's workforce will be laid off in the coming weeks. This comes directly as a result of the government's anti-energy policies. Instead of exporting our oil, the government is exporting our jobs.

Canada Emergency Student Benefit Act  Mr. Speaker, I really appreciated my colleague's story about being a chiropractor and understanding the auto industry. Because of what they are proposing for agriculture, my concern is that some youth are now a second or third generation away from the farm and have no idea where their food production comes from, except that it comes from a local grocery story.

The Economy  Mr. Speaker, I was raised on a farm where I learned the value of money and the importance of financial planning. With every budget the Liberals put out, they continue to add billions of dollars to our national debt. This is not budgeting, this is reckless spending. There are now so many uncertainties in the Canadian economy, with companies like Teck and investors like Warren Buffett unwilling to invest in Canada.

Emergency Debate  Madam Speaker, I keep hearing everyone talk about how oil and gas prices are not going down. Could someone please explain to me why consumption keeps going up? That is my biggest concern. The next thing that I have to be concerned about is that all these oil and gas projects are being cancelled in Alberta, yet we do not stop having imports of oil and gas from other countries.
