Presence in Gallery  Mr. Speaker, if you seek it, I believe you will find unanimous consent for the following motion: Given that a group of Punjabi international students has been defrauded and is now facing devastating consequences of potential deportation, I move that the House call on the government to immediately stay the deportation of all affected students, waive inadmissibility on the basis of misrepresentation and provide a pathway to permanent residency to the defrauded Punjabi international students currently facing deportation.

The Economy  Mr. Speaker, my question was about greedflation. Again, neither the Liberals nor the Conservatives have the courage to talk about it. In these tough times, economists have warned that interest rate hikes will lead Canada into a recession. With another hike, people are going to find it even harder to make ends meet every month.

The Economy  Mr. Speaker, today marks the ninth interest rate increase since March 2022. For families on a stretched budget, this means a lot more pain. However, more and more economists are coming to the consensus, something that neither Conservatives nor the Liberals are willing to talk about, that the greed of CEOs exploiting this inflationary crisis to jack up profits is the major cause of inflation.

Climate Change  Mr. Speaker, ironically, as Canada is burning, today is Clean Air Day. Wildfires have made air quality hazardous for children, pregnant women and anyone with respiratory problems. We know that global warming will cause more and more wildfires. What will it take for the Prime Minister to realize that now is the time to act to save our environment?

Climate Change  Mr. Speaker, it is clear that the government has not taken the climate crisis seriously. Its actions show that very clearly. Today is supposed to be Clean Air Day, and at the same time our country is burning. We can even smell the smoke in this chamber. Our country is literally on fire and the Liberal government thinks that business as usual is fine.

Housing  Mr. Speaker, the cost of a house has exploded under the Prime Minister. If we look at the rising interest rates, they are making things even worse. Here is the situation in the city of Toronto: Someone earning $236,000 a year has to save for 25 years before they would have enough money for a down payment, according a CTV article.

Housing  Mr. Speaker, the Leader of the Opposition wants us to believe that he understands people, while he lives in a residence paid for by the state, and has a cook and a gardener. He is only here to protect the rich who are profiting from this crisis. Rising interest rates are hurting ordinary Canadians.

Housing  Mr. Speaker, based on a recent survey, nearly half of homeowners and over half of renters in our country are struggling to make their monthly payments. I know that neither the Prime Minister nor the Leader of the Opposition have ever had to worry about this, but it is scary. On top of that, the Bank of Canada is poised to very likely increase interest rates, which will make the situation even worse.

The Economy  Mr. Speaker, the Liberal government needs to start acting like it is a crisis. The Bank of Canada will likely raise interest rates, which will make matters worse and put even more pressure on workers. This government has done nothing to deal with the greedy corporations that are massively contributing to the rising inflation.

Emergency Preparedness  Mr. Speaker, wildfires are raging across the country. We are seeing forest fires like we have never seen before so early in the season. Regions in the Atlantic are hard hit. The Prairies are hard hit, as well as northern communities and the west. Communities are hard hit and impacted.

Health  Mr. Speaker, we are facing an opioid crisis that has killed a record number of people across the country. I have met mothers who have lost a child to this opioid crisis. They requested a meeting with the leader of the Conservative Party, but he refused to meet with them. That is disrespectful.
