Housing  Mr. Speaker, that is really pretty rich coming from the Conservatives, who got out of the way entirely and thought that housing was not a federal responsibility at all. This is an opportunity to celebrate something we did today with the Government of Alberta: $27 million from us and $27 million from the Government of Alberta for 600 new affordable housing units across the province.

The Economy  Mr. Speaker, let us be clear. Who in the House helped Canadians when they needed it? It is the government. We lowered taxes for Canadians not once, not twice, but three times. However, the Conservatives voted against those tax reductions. When we lowered taxes for workers, the Conservatives voted against.

The Economy  Mr. Speaker, we are going to continue on our prudent fiscal track that we laid down in the fall economic statement and in budget 2022. It is intriguing that the Conservatives are having a little laugh fest today because—

The Economy  Perhaps we should go back to the past, Mr. Speaker, and talk about nine years of stagflation during the Harper government, when the Canadian economy did not grow more than 1% or maybe 1.2%. Which country in the world is positioned to lead the G7 in growth next year? It is Canada.

The Economy  Mr. Speaker, we know that Canadians are going through a hard time. There is an inflationary cycle that has gripped the world. The fact is that in our country, our inflation is lower than the average in the G7 and in the EU. It is not good enough for Canadians and that is why we have a robust set of affordability measures in place.

The Economy  Mr. Speaker, inflation was not caused by all of the support measures that we put in place to help people get through the pandemic, regardless of the Conservative Party's far-fetched economic theories. What we are not going to hear from the other side of the House is a plan. The Conservatives do not have a plan for the economy.

Taxation  Mr. Speaker, we understand the work that brewers do in our country. Whether it is small craft brewers or the large producers, this is an important industry for our tourism sector but also for Canadians for recreational purposes. We cannot comment on what is going to be in the budget.

Housing  Mr. Speaker, what are we hearing from the members opposite? Hopelessness. Useless words and facts that will not help Canadians. What we are not hearing from the members opposite is a plan. They have no plan for housing, no plan to fight climate change, no plan for the economy and no plan to make life more affordable.

The Economy  Mr. Speaker, I thank the hon. member for his question. We have been very clear on this. We have spoken with the CEOs of grocery companies in this country. We have referred the matter to the Competition Bureau. My colleague, the Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry, has been very clear on this matter.

Ethics  Mr. Speaker, let us dial the tape back. We had 10 years of economic stagnation under the Harper Conservatives, with not a year over 1% growth. Some 2.7 million people have been lifted out of poverty since we have been on this side. Two million more Canadians are working. What do the Conservatives have?

The Economy  Mr. Speaker, it must really be tough to be a Conservative these days. There is nothing so devastating for a Conservative than for the facts to get in the way of a good economic reality. There were 150,000 new jobs in January alone, 326,000 new jobs since September and the lowest debt-to-GDP ratio in the world.

The Economy  Mr. Speaker, I acknowledge the efforts of the NDP leader who worked with us on doubling the GST credit, as I acknowledge the support of the House for the one-time $500 top-up to the Canada housing benefit. My colleagues in the House know very well that I cannot comment on the budget.

Taxation  Mr. Speaker, the government is listening to small and medium-sized businesses. It is also listening to businesses that provide food to Canadians and feed our communities. We will take the member's specific question, discuss this issue and provide a strong response.

Automotive Industry  Mr. Speaker, I want to thank my friend and colleague, the MP for Vaughan—Woodbridge, for his hard work on the file. Our auto-manufacturing sector is the centrepiece of the Canadian economy and a source of many well-paying Canadian jobs. Last year alone, we saw more than $15 billion invested in the EV and battery supply chain.

Carbon Pricing  Mr. Speaker, the hon. former critic for tourism, and every single Conservative member on that side of the House, ran on a plan to combat climate change. It seems there has been a change of management and now they do not believe in climate change. Guess what, they do not have a plan to address climate change.
