Foreign Affairs committee  The Houthis are Zaydi Shiites affiliated with Iran, and now, mostly with the consent of the Iranian sponsors of the Houthis, they are establishing a relationship so that the Houthis can provide al-Shabaab with more sophisticated, longer-range, more lethal weapons. In the future, if the Houthis stand down, al-Shabaab in Somalia can take over their job.

Indigenous and Northern Affairs committee  Please take note of the following preventative measures that are in place to protect the health and safety of all participants, especially the interpreters. Use only the approved black earpiece. The former grey earpieces must no longer be used. Keep your earpiece away from all microphones at all times. When you're not using your earpiece, please place it face down on the sticker placed on the table for this purpose.

Information & Ethics committee  She also reached out to Felix Papineau—I referenced that— Anderson's right-hand man in Quebec, and Shawna Parker, Anderson's sister. Again, both declined to respond to questions. I referenced this yesterday, and I'm going to highlight it today.

Canadian Heritage committee  We have to hammer home the prevention message, along with the potential lifelong consequences, because there are lifelong consequences. I think that is how we can reach young people today. There will of course always be people who downplay things.

Criminal Code  For example, young athletes are often exposed to intense pressure from an early age. In many cases, they are pushed by coaches or even by their own parents to reach new heights without taking into account their physical and mental limits. This excessive pressure can lead to permanent physical trauma, as well as serious psychological problems such as anxiety, depression and even suicidal behaviour.

International Trade committee  The global supply chain is complex, and products can be exported and re-exported before they reach their final consumer, so the impacts of tariffs in the U.S. are equally complex. Suffice it to say that we prefer free trade. Of equal importance is how CUSMA protects us from non-tariff barriers.

Finance committee  A hallmark of it is that we have relatively shorter amortization periods, so people pay down their mortgages, and the lower your debt goes the less risky your financial situation is. When you have longer mortgages your debt stays around for longer and it is a higher-risk issue. The Bank of Canada did interesting work on how to improve our marketplace to make longer-term mortgages available so that, if households so choose, they can term out their mortgages for longer than five years at a reasonable price.

Budget Implementation Act, 2024, No. 1  Finally, women's reproductive health freedom will be maintained because it will no longer be a question of whether they can afford access to contraception. There will be nine million Canadians benefiting from those measures, as well, from the NDP. I could go on and on about other pieces of legislation the NDP has brought forward.

Budget Implementation Act, 2024, No. 1  Just last weekend I took part in the Relay for Life in Lotbinière/Lévis, a walk to raise money for cancer. I was worried when people told me they no longer recognized the country we live in and no longer feel safe with the direction the country is headed in. Life is getting dire for millions of Canadians who have exhausted their savings and their credit.

Transport committee  Kendall, who talked about the 737-200 series plane from Boeing, essentially 10 years ago now, no longer being supported for gravel kits. That's obviously the workhorse in the north. What is the anticipated service gap between when that airframe is no longer going to be viable and when the new runway materials might come online?

Transport committee  The 737-200 provides most of the jet service to communities in the Arctic. In 2014, I attended a meeting with Boeing where they said that the 737-200 would no longer be supported for its gravel kit operations, and they would no longer be producing aircraft that would replace the 737-200. In 2017, we formed the alternate runway materials committee to investigate suitable wearing surfaces that would work as efficiently as asphalt or concrete.

Points of Order  In his point of order, the member for Edmonton—Wetaskiwin asked the Chair to clarify what constitutes unparliamentary language, because he asserted that the terms “anti-Alberta” and “anti-Quebec” had been used in the past with no objection from the Chair. The member expressed concern that the list of unparliamentary terms is getting longer and longer. When the point of order was raised, I promised to review the issue. The Chair must take into account a whole range of factors before forming an opinion on what members perceive as inappropriate language.

Canadian Heritage committee  I have a 13-year-old daughter and I sense that the message about being careful does not always reach young people that clearly. I suppose it is primarily the consumers that you arrest. Do you think the message is getting out more clearly? Are there things we could improve, not only as parents but as a society?

Environment committee  In Quebec, yes, we have first nations, but not as many as you have, compared to the number of allochtone that we have in our province. How do you deal with that? Also, how can you reach out in great agreement with a win-win partnership and partnership in prosperity? How do you get that?

Canadian Heritage committee  This approach is technologically possible and relatively quick to implement, with far greater reach and effectiveness. Device-level controls coupled with a multi-dimensional public health approach are needed, including the implementation of protective legislation and policy. Sadly, sexual exploitation is happening right now in Canada, feeding the production of illegal sexually explicit material online.
