COVID-19 in Alberta  If this was actually true, if we actually were going to give the support that was necessary to Canadians, then premiers like Jason Kenney and Doug Ford could have imposed the strict regulations we needed to stop the spread of COVID and not have had to worry about the economy. The truth of the matter is that Jason Kenney is not the only one guilty of half-measures.

Transport committee  Emmett Macfarlane, again, from the University of Waterloo, is quoted as saying, “I’ve avoided the Doug Ford-Andrew Scheer comparisons because they’re definitely different people but the details coming out about the CPC fiscal plans, particularly on the cutting side, are eerily Ford-esque.”

Business of Supply  I know there are a lot of Bigfoots that probably do support Jason Kenney. I am mentioning Jason Kenney and Doug Ford because we cannot simply leave something as big as a pandemic to them, if that is what their priorities are. We need leadership from the federal government, and we are not seeing it.

Health committee  Thank you. Minister, when Doug Ford announced Ontario's stay-at-home order on April 7, he said the province's crisis had become worse than predicted. However, modelling presented two months earlier clearly signalled the trouble to come.

The Budget  Speaker, I am deeply disturbed by the current crisis at Laurentian University. It is clear that the Doug Ford government is dismantling an institution that is vital to the francophone, indigenous and anglophone communities in northern Ontario. However, when I look at what the Liberals are doing, it is clear that the Liberal government has abandoned its obligation to provide funding for the Franco-Ontarian community and protect its rights.

Government Response to COVID-19 Pandemic  If the federal government genuinely wants to work with the provinces and territories, and if we genuinely want to work with Doug Ford right now in Ontario, I do not think that implementing a piece of legislation that allows the federal government to go in and do something for the province is the approach. It would basically be saying that Ontario had done a horrible job, and it should get out of the way because the federal government is taking over now.

Government Response to COVID-19 Pandemic  I think most Ontarians would agree that this pandemic has overwhelmed the capacity of the Doug Ford government to deal with it. The Prime Minister today once again dismissed the Emergencies Act, this time by derisively referring to Tommy Douglas voting against the War Measures Act in 1970.

Government Response to COVID-19 Pandemic  The provinces were told in December when they would get them. Therefore, in Ontario, when Doug Ford saw on February 11 the modelling of what would happen in the third wave, he knew when to get the doses and actually ended up getting more than he was promised by the end of March. Therefore, the lack of vaccines cannot be blamed on the third wave, because the provinces knew and had a responsibility to target and timeline themselves around that rollout.

Laurentian University in Sudbury  Who should be accountable for the demise of a highly reputable centre of higher learning like Laurentian University, its board of directors or the Doug Ford Conservative government?

Official Languages committee  I have two sisters, cousins and many other relatives who were educated there. It's all well and good to blame Doug Ford and Jason Kenney, but what will the Liberal government do to help these francophone institutions? You have the power to support these institutions; you have the portfolio. I know it's a collaboration, but what are you going to do to help them, other than pointing fingers?

Official Languages  Mr. Speaker, Doug Ford continues to attack the Franco-Ontarian community, but the collapse of Laurentian University is unprecedented. Laurentian University is the only national institution with a mandate to promote francophone, indigenous and anglophone education.

Income Tax Act  I would like to begin by recognizing the news from a few weeks that the Supreme Court of Canada dismissed the challenge of Jason Kenney, Doug Ford and Scott Moe in a clear ruling that it is within the ability of the federal government to put a backstop price on pollution if the provinces and territories fail to act. This is important because, as written in the decision, “The evidence clearly shows that establishing minimum national standards of GHG price stringency to reduce GHG emissions is of concern to Canada as a whole.

Economic Statement Implementation Act, 2020  My riding makes the best wine in the country and his friend, the Premier of Ontario, stopped those shipments from going to Ontario. We cannot send wine to Ontario. Doug Ford said no. He even upped the ante recently with legislation that threatens a 10-year jail sentence for someone shipping wine into Ontario. His friend and former colleague, Jason Kenney in Alberta, could regain a lot of his lost popularity.

Economic Relationship between Canada and the United States committee  That's why our government is advocating to keep Line 5 operating and why we are working with all levels of government on a united team Canada approach to resolving this issue. Premier Doug Ford has met with Governor Whitmer, after writing to her previously, to underscore Ontario's concerns about the impact of losing Line 5. In February the Minister of Energy, Northern Development and Mines, Greg Rickford, and I, along with Sarnia-Lambton MPP Bob Bailey, wrote to the federal natural resources minister to express our concerns and to encourage him to advocate for the continued operation of Line 5 with the new U.S. administration.

Business of Supply  After billions of dollars and thousands of bureaucrats, a year later the federal government is saying it is not its job. It is Legault's job, Doug Ford's job, or Jason Kenney's job. Liberals will not provide any support on this or any guidance. All they are going to do is have the Prime Minister come out of Rideau Cottage and say, “Well, I think you should lock down more.”
