Ethics  Mr. Speaker, PMO staffer Patrick Rogers sent an email on March 21 saying that the Deloitte audit will “...state that Duffy's lawyer did not provide information when requested. They were asked to complete the work by the end of March....” How can the Conservatives claim the PMO did not know anything when a staffer was emailing about the contents of the audit in March?

Natural Resources  Mr. Speaker, citizens in my riding of Hamilton Centre have been following the hearings on Enbridge's Line 9 pipeline reversal and are deeply concerned. My constituents know that the 38-year-old pipeline was not designed to handle diluted bitumen, and they wanted their concerns to be heard.

Respect for Communities Act  Mr. Speaker, my colleague and I have been at a couple of committee meetings lately. I have not had a chance to agree with him much. I will take the opportunity now to say that I do, very much. I have served, like my colleague, not just here, but provincially, and I am not sure if he served municipally.

Respect for Communities Act  That is an interesting approach, Mr. Speaker. First my thought was, as the hon. member was speaking, that he thinks that all of a sudden those drugs would not be bought because people who use them do not have somewhere safe to go. It does not make sense. It does not deal with that issue.

Respect for Communities Act  Mr. Speaker, I appreciate the opportunity to join in this difficult but important debate. It is worth noting that InSite as a program has been peer reviewed around the world. There were further studies on over 70 other safe injection sites in Europe and Australia. The fact is that it saved lives.

Points of Order  Mr. Speaker, I cannot imagine why. With the greatest of respect, I certainly cannot challenge your opinion or authority, but it needs to be said here on the floor, as we head into this weekend: oskee wee wee.

Steel Industry  Mr. Speaker, for over 100 years, Stelco made steel in Hamilton, providing good, high-value jobs. However, when Stelco ran into trouble, it was sold off to U.S. Steel on a solemn promise to maintain jobs and investment in my home town of Hamilton. The Conservative government then rubber-stamped that U.S.

Business of Supply  Mr. Speaker, I do appreciate your caution on the time. You are probably fully aware that it takes me almost six minutes just to clear my throat. I will do my best to keep it as tight as I can, but I am so glad to have this chance. This is one of my favourite subjects, the senate, and the fantasyland that exists between what people think is happening over there and what is really happening there.

Aboriginal Affairs  Mr. Speaker, Canadians are watching the situation in Elsipogtog First Nation in New Brunswick with great concern. This situation underlines the importance of peaceful and respectful dialogue between governments and indigenous peoples and of honouring the duty to consult and accommodate before impacting people's rights.

Ethics  Mr. Speaker, court documents have shown that a number of the Prime Minister's aides were well aware of ongoing talks with Mike Duffy. On February 11, Mike Duffy spoke with the Prime Minister's chief of staff in the Prime Minister's Office. Two days later, the Prime Minster spoke with Mike Duffy about his expenses after a caucus meeting.

International Trade  Mr. Speaker, the NDP welcomes progress on a trade agreement with Europe. We support greater trade with Europe, but any deal must be a good deal for Canadians. Today's announcement contains a lot of hype, but not the actual text of the agreement. Canadians are still left waiting to read the fine print.

Ethics  Mr. Speaker, thank you. I appreciate the green light. The government claims it does not have the $90,000 cheque Nigel Wright gave to Senator Mike Duffy. They said it is not in the public interest to release it. They have also said they know this was a personal cheque. How do they know this was a personal cheque if they have not seen it?

Ethics  Mr. Speaker, the Prime Minister has said that what Nigel Wright did was wrong. Considering this incredible lack of judgment by Nigel Wright, why are the Conservatives simply taking his word that this was a personal cheque? Does anyone over there have any evidence, any document, any proof at all that shows this was a personal cheque?
