Justice for Animals in Service Act (Quanto's Law)  Mr. Speaker, I am pleased to rise today to speak in support of C-35, an act to amend the Criminal Code with respect to law enforcement animals, military animals, and service animals, Quanto's law. In contradiction to the comments just made by the opposition members, I think these are actually very important pieces of legislation to discuss and move forward.

Labour  Mr. Speaker, when it comes to preventing illness and injury in the workplace, it is job number one at the labour program. That is why, just two weeks ago, employees unions, employers, my deputy minister, and I met together in Toronto at a large forum to address these issues: mental health, and making sure that issues of harassment and other things in the workplace are addressed.

Labour  Mr. Speaker, violence against women and girls is simply unacceptable. This government is on the record of stating that again and again. However, I do find it strikingly odd. The opposition opposes every action we have taken to combat criminals and support victims. I guess I just find it passing strange that it is asking for this today, when this government has moved forward on a number of initiatives, whether that be safe streets, whether that be a victim's bill of rights.

Labour  Mr. Speaker, preventing illness and injury in the workplace, particularly mental health issues, including domestic violence, is an essential component of the health and well-being of all Canadians. As I said earlier in this place, I have already spoken just this morning with the president of the Canadian Labour Congress, Hassan Yussuff, and his counterparts at FETCO and the chairman there, Steve Bedard, to make sure that we are meeting next week to address this issue and move forward on it.

Labour  Mr. Speaker, this government actually has shown leadership, and the opposition continues to vote against those opportunities to support Canadians, both in the workplace and at home. Whether it be eliminating violence against women and girls, making sure an action plan is in place for murdered and missing aboriginal women, or making sure those things are in place for the mental health of those in the workplace, I encourage the opposition to please get on board and vote for what we are putting forward to make sure Canadians are safe and healthy.

Status of Women  Mr. Speaker, preventing injuries and illnesses in the workplace, including mental health issues, is vital to the health, well-being and economic success of all Canadians. This is something that we do regularly at Status of Women Canada, whether it be women who are handicapped, women of aboriginal background, or women who are entrepreneurs.

Status of Women  Mr. Speaker, I will say to the Leader of the Opposition that I actually had the great opportunity to speak to the president of the CLC just this morning, as well as to the chairman of FETCO, Steve Bedard. Both have agreed to meet with me next week to speak about this specific issue, so that we are making sure that mental health in the workplace is resolved.

Energy Safety and Security Act  Mr. Speaker, the member is doing an outstanding job in his area of the country, in Durham region, and part of that is making sure that jobs are protected and jobs are created. Moving forward with Bill C-22, our government is very much focused. Unlike what the NDP would like to do, essentially bankrupting these companies that are moving forward, and putting people out of work, we are moving forward to make sure this is done in a responsible way and that we are creating jobs in the interim.

Labour  Mr. Speaker, I thank the member opposite for his question. I want to be very clear. With respect to individuals who work in federally regulated workplaces, part II and part III of the Canada Labour Code cover them for harassment as well as for many other issues with regard to health and safety.

Labour  Mr. Speaker, our government is committed to keeping workplaces safe, fair and productive for Canadians. I want to be very clear. With respect to employees who believe that their rights under the Canada Labour Code have been violated, they should bring that matter forward to the Canada labour program.

Economic Action Plan 2014 Act, No. 2  Mr. Speaker, I am part of this government because this government supports well-paying jobs for all Canadians, including women. Let us be clear. In economic action plan 2014, for the first time ever in Canadian history, unlike what an NDP government would do and unlike what the Liberals have done in the past across all provinces, Status of Women Canada announced support specifically for women entrepreneurs, making sure that they can start their own businesses, be mentored and championed, and have great opportunities.

Economic Action Plan 2014 Act, No. 2  Mr. Speaker, first, this government has created 1.1 million net new jobs since the downturn of the recession. The Liberal Party does not support that job creation plan. Second, I want to be clear on EI. Our new small business tax credit would help create jobs. It would infuse into small businesses across the country the opportunity to hire more Canadians.

Economic Action Plan 2014 Act, No. 2  Mr. Speaker, our Conservative government has focused on what matters to Canadians: job creation, economic growth and Canada's long-term prosperity. Canada's economy has had one of the best economic performances in the G7 for a few years now, during both the global recession and the recovery.

Canada-Korea Economic Growth and Prosperity Act  Mr. Speaker, I have to say the one great thing about this agreement is that the increase in exports would be upward of 32%. That is about a $1.7 billion investment in Canada annually. The other important part is the removal of duties. Essentially 98% of them would be removed on the different services that will be moving back and forth.

Military Contribution Against ISIL  Mr. Speaker, I do not think many Canadians have not seen this extreme level of violence. We may not have a complete comprehension of what it means, whether it be women being sold into slavery or these heinous acts, including rape and killings, that are taking place against women.
