Veterans' Week  Mr. Speaker, Veterans' Week begins tomorrow, so today I am rising remotely to salute the incredible work of our legions, especially those in my community in Alexandria, Hawkesbury, Rockland and Russell. Across Canada, legions play an important role in not only supporting our veterans, but also ensuring that Canadians remember those who have gone before us and the men and women in uniform who fought and continue to fight so Canadians can enjoy their freedom.

Criminal Code  Madam Speaker, I thank my colleague from Berthier—Maskinongé for his speech. The member raised a good point. No matter how different our parties are, individual freedoms and the right to life are extremely important in Canada. Although I come from a different party, 17 years ago, I fought for the rights of gays and lesbians and everyone in the LGBTQ2 community to marry.

Small Business Week  Madam Speaker, 2020 did not really turn out like any of us imagined. This week is Small Business Week, and I want to take this opportunity to acknowledge the Canadians who make a choice every day to buy local and support small businesses. I want to recognize the people of Glengarry—Prescott—Russell for their dedication to the local economy and commend the Prescott-Russell Chamber of Commerce for coming up with the Chamberdollars program, a new type of gift card that can be used at local businesses.

Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, I thank my colleague for his speech. From what the opposition is saying, one would think that we never produced any documents. My colleague knows very well that the documents that the opposition is asking for today were submitted to the Standing Committee on Health and the Standing Committee on Government Operations and Estimates.

Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, I want to thank my colleague from Beauport—Limoilou. As we both sit on the Standing Committee on Government Operations and Estimates, I want to remind her that a motion was adopted on June 5, 2020, concerning the production of documents by Health Canada and the Public Health Agency, as well as Public Works and Government Services.

Business of Supply  Mr. Speaker, I want to thank the leader of the official opposition for his speech. I can see that he is concerned about credit as opposed to results. I know that the member has practised law on Bay Street, and I know that he has some basic understanding of commercial law. I wonder whether he has had a chat with the member for Leeds—Grenville—Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes and the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing in Ontario, and whether they agree that 3M should release the terms of its contract and the terms and conditions of that particular contract.

Interparliamentary Delegations  Mr. Speaker, pursuant to Standing Order 34(1), I have the honour to present to the House, in both official languages, two reports of the delegation of the Canadian Branch of the Assemblée parlementaire de la Francophonie. The first is respecting its participation at the bureau meeting of the APF, held in Dakar, Senegal, from January 28 to 30, 2020.

Business of Supply  Mr. Speaker, it is a great comment, but I completely disagree with the comments he has made. Listening to that particular member talk again, it is as if the government has provided absolutely zero testimony to committees on this particular affair. It is as if the government provided zero documents.

Business of Supply  Mr. Speaker, the members of the opposition are making unfounded allegations. In early July, without even knowing the facts, the leader of the Bloc Québécois accused the Prime Minister and the Liberal Party of being corrupt. If we are corrupt, then all they have to do is send their evidence and testimony to the RCMP and let it do its job.

Business of Supply  Mr. Speaker, I have lots of respect for my hon. colleague, but again, I am listening to the opposition saying that we on this side of the House have zero accountability. I was on a government operations committee that looked at all procurements during COVID-19, and the House leader has proposed an alternative to look at all COVID-19 spending.

Business of Supply  Mr. Speaker, it did not get spent. On the issue of supporting students, the CSSG was just one way that we could have supported students, but obviously we had the student CERB, which helped thousands and thousands of students across Canada. With regard to the Canada summer jobs program, I will remind each member who stood here in May complaining and asking where the Canada summer jobs program for students was and why it was not being approved fast enough.

Business of Supply  Mr. Speaker, it is my pleasure to rise in the House to speak to this bogus motion. This morning I got up and took some time to visit with young entrepreneurs because this is Small Business Week. Their business is called Kyan Cuisine. Our government's support was very important to them.

Criminal Code  Madam Speaker, I believe it was taken out because, in terms of practicality, it served no purpose. The Minister of Justice and many of our colleagues heard from families, now that we have been living with Bill C-14 for over three years, about the 10-day period. Patients who have already made the decision that they need medical assistance consulted with their doctors, nurses and families about that extra 10-day period.

Criminal Code  Madam Speaker, I certainly was not a member of the justice committee, but I do believe the rationale for including the advance consent in this particular case was because of the Audrey Parker case in Nova Scotia. I can also say that the Canadian Medical Association, I believe, is supporting this particular legislation in accordance with what we are presenting today.

Criminal Code  Madam Speaker, the previous bill required two witnesses and this bill only requires one witness. This was actually raised with the Minister of Justice. I believe this will correct the issues that arose from the previous bill, Bill C-14. The current bill strikes the right balance to make sure there is access to a doctor or nurse who has knowledge of the particular patients in question.
