Democratic Institutions  What are the Liberals hiding? Is it the case that the Liberal Party does not want to incriminate its own members? The Minister of Public Safety, Democratic Institutions and Intergovernmental Affairs answered my question and had the audacity to claim that I had made something up, and said that the government has “worked collaboratively” with the Hogue commission.

Canadian Heritage committee  Thank you, Madam Chair. Thank you, witnesses, for being here with us today. Mr. Shortliffe, you spoke a lot about the nature of programming that takes place. Mr. Hutton touched on the consultations that take place. How much is the Government of Quebec consulted, or how much feedback do they give you, on average, during the course of a year?

Environment committee  Thank you, Mr. Chair. Over a year ago, the Canadian Climate Institute issued a statement that said that the PBO's latest carbon pricing report had big flaws. It took a little bit over a year for the Parliamentary Budget Officer to re-quantify the economic effects of carbon pricing and issue the statement that there were flaws in his 2022 and 2023 report.

Environment committee  Mr. Tremblay, the Liberal government gave away $551 million to a company by the name of Umicore through the net-zero accelerator fund, which you've mentioned, and you're responsible for emissions reductions. Umicore is a Belgian company that made over $27 billion in revenue last year.

Budget Implementation Act, 2024, No. 1  Madam Speaker, I would like to ask my colleague a very important question. We realize that since COVID it has been challenging out there. Affordability is a big issue. Our government has been focused on supporting Canadians through various programs. Two that I want to speak of are our Canada child benefit and the early years benefit, which are helping young families prior to children's entering school, and then afterward, helping them and supporting them.

Budget Implementation Act, 2024, No. 1  Madam Speaker, let me give a specific example. Provinces come up with great ideas at times, and often the national government will take a look at them to see how we might expand on them. A good example is our health care system. Saskatchewan came up with a good idea, and ultimately it was spread across Canada.

Environment committee  Thank you, Chair. Thank you to the officials for coming out this afternoon. Mr. Tremblay, the Liberal government gave away $96 million to General Motors through the net-zero accelerator fund. General Motors is an American company that made over $235 billion in revenue last year. How many emissions are supposed to be reduced directly from this $96-million handout?

Budget Implementation Act, 2024, No. 1  Madam Speaker, I am afraid you will not give me the amount of time I would require in order to give a detailed answer to my friend, but let me make the suggestion to her that all she needs to take a look at is the number of people in the province of Quebec who are actually registered for the dental program, and she will find that there is in fact a need for the program.

Public Accounts committee  Thank you, Chair. Thank you to the witnesses for waiting until we finished our votes today. Commissioner Duheme, you originally declined the committee's invitation to appear, and I'd like to read part of your letter in response to this clerk. It says: As you may be aware, a similar motion concerning ArriveCAN was put forward by the Standing Committee on Government Operations and Estimates in October 2023, which called for the appearance of an RCMP official in respect of “reports that the RCMP is investigating allegations of misconduct by three companies involved in the development of the ArriveCAN app.”

Electoral Participation Act  This gives me the optimism to believe that just because Motion No. 86 did not pass, it does not mean there are no opportunities for members of Parliament to make it happen. The Liberal government is in power right now, and it can make it happen today. It can follow through with its promise that the 2015 election would be the last first past the post election, but it is too late for that.

Electoral Participation Act  Currently, without the law, there are four days of early voting prior to voting day, people can vote by mail and they can vote on campuses. Simply put, there are plenty of opportunities to vote. Officially, the government is citing the need to accommodate the festival of lights, Diwali, a holiday celebrated by Indian communities, to justify postponing election day. The Liberal government has chosen to integrate the religious calendar into the electoral calendar.

Budget Implementation Act, 2024, No. 1  Madam Speaker, contrary to what the Conservative critic is heckling from across the way, there are a lot of projects. There are over 40 projects, and many of them are in the province of Alberta, where rumour has it there are some Conservative members of Parliament. Why would Conservatives want to kill a program that is delivering jobs in tangible ways, green jobs, and contributing literally hundreds of millions of dollars of investment, with much of it going to agriculture.
