Public Accounts committee  We didn't give him a carbon tax report. What we gave to the PBO was basic data. It's Excel spreadsheets of information, and some of this information has not been published, and that's why. Sometimes it could be protected by certain acts like the Statistics Act.

Taxation  Nine in 10 middle-class people are paying higher taxes. The vast majority of Canadians and 100% of the middle class are paying higher carbon tax. His last round of small business tax hikes hit plumbers and electricians, not the rich. Why is it that every time Prime Minister mentions the middle class, they get poorer?

Budget Implementation Act, 2024, No. 1  Should the Leader of the Opposition become prime minister, I would like to know whether he will repeal that division in order to give Quebec back its power over Caisses Desjardins and the other financial institutions currently regulated by Quebec. Second, we have been hearing the leader of the Conservative Party talk about the carbon tax problem for months now. However, Derek Evans, the executive chair of Pathways Alliance and one of the financiers who contributed to his campaign, said that the best piece of advice he would give the Leader of the Opposition is that carbon policy is going to be absolutely critical to maintain Canada's standing on the world stage.

Budget Implementation Act, 2024, No. 1  As we know, the government is constantly deciding to introduce bad policy that is hurting our farmers and will increase the cost of food. The carbon tax is an example. Another example is the P2 plastics ban on plastic packaging for fresh fruits and vegetables. We have heard that this policy alone will increase the price of fresh fruits and vegetables by up to 34%, create 50% more greenhouse gases and create 50% more food waste, resulting in less availability of products as other countries may not ship their products to this country.

Finance committee  Giroux, the Parliamentary Budget Officer, states it does, and it does validate Conservatives' conclusion that the carbon tax is causing Canadians to suffer a net loss, I would respectfully ask that we all vote yes and get this report to our committee.

Budget Implementation Act, 2024, No. 1  In fact, the member talks about small businesses, but it is because of them that more small businesses are going insolvent and that there are more bankruptcies. The NDP helped jack up the carbon tax scam. That is not just for businesses; it is the workers of those small businesses—

Budget Implementation Act, 2024, No. 1  Its actions have caused the affordability crisis we are facing today. Our hope is that a non-confidence vote will be held in our favour and that a carbon tax election will be held so a common-sense Conservative is elected to try to fix the problems the government has created.

Budget Implementation Act, 2024, No. 1  Only one year, at the very most, remains of this Liberal-NDP-Bloc Québécois nightmare. Common-sense Conservatives will axe the carbon tax and lower prices on the staples Canadians need. This is not the sort of budget Canadians need in these difficult times. What they need is elections as soon as possible to axe the taxes, build the homes, fix the budget and stop the crime.

Business of Supply  Two parties were less interested. There were the Conservatives, who were probably asking about the carbon tax because that is all they know how to do, and then there were the Liberals, who, when we asked questions about foreign interference, wanted to talk about the interest rate. The Liberals have changed their tune since then.

Carbon Pricing  Speaker, that is another fairy tale from a Liberal who clearly does not understand food production. The government cannot deny that paying $25,000 in a single month in carbon tax is punishing this farmer. The NDP-Liberals live in la-la land if they do not think that these costs get passed on to Canadian families. When will the government leave fantasy land, stop hurting our farmers and pass Bill C-234 in its original form?

Carbon Pricing  He is desperate to cover up his own secret report, which shows that Canadians are worse off under his carbon tax regime. He knows it. We know it, and Canadians know it. When will the Prime Minister lift his gag order on the Parliamentary Budget Officer and release his report?

Carbon Pricing  Canadians are not doing well, despite the Prime Minister gaslighting them. It gets worse. There is now a PBO report that reveals the true cost of the carbon tax. Why are they not allowing the PBO to release it? He has been gagged, and now we want to know why.

Indigenous and Northern Affairs committee  I think that's part of the issue. There's more impact to first nations than just what the carbon tax can speak for. This is especially true for northern ones, where they have to evacuate every summer or every spring because of fires and flooding and all the sorts of things that happen.

Indigenous and Northern Affairs committee  Article 29 of UNDRIP recognizes the rights of indigenous peoples “to the conservation and protection...and productive capacity of their lands or territories and resources.” Again, carbon taxes, to us, are not really about federalism but rather are a violation of our land rights, and this goes in opposition to the economic reconciliation efforts you're talking about now. Again, I can't go into too much detail because we do have legal action on that right now, but hopefully we can get that settled sooner rather than later.

Indigenous and Northern Affairs committee  Before I jump to a line of questioning with her, I'll start quickly with Grand Chief Joel Abram. You were talking earlier in your remarks about the carbon tax and the effects that your nations are dealing with, specifically the increased costs of goods and services, yet the rebate the government seems to champion is not being seen by your peoples.
