Business of Supply  Mr. Speaker, it is really like Groundhog Day with the Conservatives. For six months, all the opposition days have been the same. They are always about inflation and the carbon tax. It is unbelievable. Last week, I had the opportunity to give a speech on the carbon tax. When reading the motion, I felt like it was the same thing.

Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, so we saw the Prime Minister putting on costumes from all kinds of nations, which is fine and which we totally respect. However, when it comes to supporting the fact that Quebec is a specific minority, with specific values, history and way of life, it is always treated with suspicion in the House.

Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, we in the Bloc always feel that when Quebec rises in the House to defend its uniqueness, it is seen as a little suspicious. However, my Liberal friends saw Prime Minister Trudeau some time ago visit certain countries, dress up and put on all kinds of costumes—

Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, I thank my hon. colleague for his speech. I am a little surprised to hear him and some other members, including the member for Rosemont—La Petite-Patrie, say that people on the left are always ready to defend all diversities, diverse expressions and minorities. Wanting to limit Quebec's right to defend its differences is what we are talking about this morning.

Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, the carbon tax is a very good measure. However, it needs to be increased far more drastically than it has been so far. I think the UN was recommending that the tax be set at $200 per tonne now. Based on what we are hearing, it will be about $170 per tonne in 2030.

Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, I completely agree. I mentioned it in my speech. As I am not an expert, I cannot say how much we should tax those companies. We can see their profits are indecent. Those industries are still making bloated profits from what is happening in the world at this time.

Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, that is not really my area of expertise, but I do know that the Bloc Québécois proposed a transitional period for oil industry workers. What we are saying is that, one way or another, fossil fuel production will have to cease. However, we know the industry creates a lot of jobs, and we know that matters.

Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, so, I was trying to engage in constructive dialogue with my Conservative friends. I was saying that, no matter how many opposition days we spend talking about getting rid of the carbon tax, we will never come up with anything resembling a solution. Earlier, the hon. member for Louis-Saint-Laurent, whom I like very much, was asked a question.

Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, if everyone agrees, I will share my time with the member for Perth—Wellington What we are hearing right now is rather frustrating and sad. It kind of makes a person want to bang their head against the wall or slit their wrists in despair. As I said earlier, there is a major worldwide crisis right now, the climate crisis.

Business of Supply  Seriously, you keep repeating yourselves. This is not easy for us. It is hard on the brain. Hearing the same things over and over again will drive anyone a little crazy. We have been hearing members say “triple, triple, triple” for six months now. At some point, enough is enough.

Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, it is so disheartening. The fight against climate change is important. It is one of the major challenges of our time. Canada, as a G7 country, must deal with this problem. The party on the right has no plan. It could not care less and is incapable of presenting any ideas that would suggest that it wants to fight this problem.

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship  Mr. Speaker, the Liberals, who are notoriously sanctimonious, are forcing asylum seekers to seek social assistance, but it does not stop there. There is a shortage of housing, mainly because of federal underfunding, so dozens of homeless asylum seekers are turning to community organizations that are already stretched thin and to shelters that are already overcrowded for help.

Business of Supply  Mr. Speaker, I thank my colleague for his speech. This morning we are again seized with some sort of motion addressing one of my Conservative friends' favourite topics, namely law and order and justice. This morning, my colleague and other members spoke about the fact that it is also important to proactively address poverty indicators, including housing, mental health and addiction.

Canada Early Learning and Child Care Act  Madam Speaker, earlier I asked another member a question. I will ask the same question, but put it a little differently. My colleague clearly explained how Bill C‑35 will actually help women, children and families. We know that the system has worked very well in Quebec for 25 years.
