Democratic Institutions  Mr. Speaker, honestly, that is hard to take. Clearly, this government could not care less about the damage caused by its inaction on foreign interference. Clearly, the Prime Minister must have known that the member's family was facing threats abroad. What will it take for this Prime Minister to take action and immediately launch a public inquiry?

Labour  Mr. Speaker, this is getting ridiculous. As the cost of groceries increases, the price of housing spikes and we are in a period of unprecedented inflation, the Prime Minister swears he understands how difficult this is. The facts show that he does not understand anything. It is just bad theatre.

Labour  Mr. Speaker, this is starting to get ridiculous. In our country, Galen Weston earns over 430 times what the median income of an employee at his company—

Labour  Mr. Speaker, this situation and the Conservatives are getting ridiculous. We have a situation where Galen Weston is earning over 430 times the median income of an employee at his company, and the Prime Minister wants to do nothing about that, but a janitor working in the public service cannot even have a salary that keeps up with inflation.

Labour  Mr. Speaker, public service workers have been waiting for over two years for a fair contract. Liberals like to talk a lot about workers' rights, but when they offer workers in the public sector what is effectively a pay cut when they are asking for salaries that keep up with inflation, they are no better than Conservatives.

Labour  Mr. Speaker, if the Prime Minister were serious about respecting these workers, he would not be jetting off to New York at a time when we have the biggest strike in our country's history. That does not show respect for workers. Workers are not buying it. We are not buying it. If the Prime Minister were serious about this, he could show some leadership and certainly not allow the minister who put us in this mess to continue to do this work.

Labour  Mr. Speaker, with each day of this strike, the government's mask is slipping, and what it reveals is not pretty. What the workers want is simple. They want salaries that keep up with inflation. However, this government is not addressing the workers' needs. Will the prime minister wake up, give his minister a push, do his job and offer these workers a fair contract?

Labour  Mr. Speaker, public servants have been waiting over two years for a fair contract. After two years, there is nothing. They are making a simple demand. They want a salary that is in line with inflation. That is what we want for all workers. However, it is clear that the minister is not doing the work required.

Labour  Mr. Speaker, the Prime Minister likes to talk a good game when it comes to workers, but when it comes down to it, he does not actually follow through. In fact, he often says one thing and does the opposite. These are public sector workers. These are his workers, and the Prime Minister has a responsibility to make sure that they have a fair contract.

Labour  Mr. Speaker, New Democrats are extremely disappointed that the Liberal government did not arrive at a negotiated agreement with the Public Service Alliance of Canada. These are the workers who delivered unprecedented help during the challenging times of the pandemic. They deserve our respect.

Labour  Mr. Speaker, the Liberal government talks a good game about workers' rights, but it often ends up doing very much the same as the Conservatives. Public servants worked hard during the pandemic and they deserve respect. Will the Prime Minister commit to not bringing in special back-to-work legislation, yes or no?

Employment  Mr. Speaker, it is clear that the Liberals are out of touch with the reality of Canadians. Our idea is simple: If a company like Loblaws can afford to pay its CEO, Galen Weston, 431 times more than its employees, that company can afford to invest more in our society. If that company wants to pay less in taxes, it can always raise workers' wages.

Employment  Mr. Speaker, Canadian families and workers have been hard hit by inflation. Do members know who was not hard hit by inflation? It is CEOs. CEOs have made record salaries. In fact, the average CEO in our country makes 241 times more than the average employee. This is outrageous. Canadians are frustrated by it, and they have the right to be.

Request for Emergency Debate  Madam Speaker, I rise today to request an emergency debate concerning the very serious rise in hate crimes particularly targeting the Muslim and Jewish community. With the rise of Islamophobia and anti-Semitism on the heels of record-high levels of violence against these communities, we need the debate in this chamber to discuss how serious this is and debate solutions to the problems.

Labour  Mr. Speaker, in the pandemic, public sector workers stepped up and provided the much needed help to give Canadians a lending hand in a difficult time. Now these workers are being impacted by inflation. They do not want to go to strike, they want to work, so the government has a responsibility to negotiate fairly.
