Royal Canadian Mounted Police Act  Mr. Speaker, I want to thank my colleague for his speech. Given that my colleague once served as public safety minister, I should think he would be better informed than other MPs, myself included. I wonder if he still believes in what he said on May 13, 2015: “I have full confidence in the judgment of the RCMP.

Canada-United States-Mexico Agreement Implementation Act  Madam Speaker, I thank my colleague for her speech. I know how important the dairy industry is to her riding. The dairy industry is also very important to my riding. I would like to remind the House that in 2008, under the former NAFTA, there was a milk protein issue in Canada.

Canada-United States-Mexico Agreement Implementation Act  Madam Speaker, I appreciate my colleague's questions but I do not agree with him that we suddenly agreed with the United States on the sunset clause. It was 24 years ago. Does he agree with a clause from 24 years ago and does it still apply 24 years later? The question that we must ask is whether a free trade agreement should evolve over so many years.

Canada-United States-Mexico Agreement Implementation Act  Madam Speaker, I want to thank my colleague for his excellent question. Canada and Quebec produce excellent aluminum. I am fortunate to represent a riding that runs along the Quebec border. I always say that the sun rises east of Ontario. If we ban aluminum from China or elsewhere, is my colleague prepared to say that we should ban other exports to China?

Business of Supply  Mr. Speaker, I would like to thank my colleague from Toronto—Danforth for her question. It is important that all sectors be represented at the table, including employers, francophone journalists and Canada's ethnic media. It is important that these people be at the table. It is also important to include unions that represent those working in the area.

Business of Supply  Mr. Speaker, the member would know, of course, having been here for more than one mandate, that this particular policy of moving advertising to the Internet started under his own government. With respect to the issue at hand, we want to support an independent press, and bankruptcy is simply not an option for an independent press.

Business of Supply  Mr. Speaker, I thank my colleague for the question. Obviously, conditions have changed over the decades for newspapers. Journalists used to attend press conferences, for example. Earlier in my speech I mentioned the importance of having journalists hold local governments to account.
