Agriculture committee  Thank you. Mr. Vauthier, do you have anything to what's happening, especially with the farmers who have been displaced from their land? What's happening with them right now?

Agriculture committee  Thank you. I did have a question regarding the effect on women. Lauren, I know you're joined here by Brittany Lambert, who specializes in women's rights policy. I'm interested in hearing from her on what the specific concerns or effects are for women among the internally displaced people and the whole war situation in Ukraine for them.

Agriculture committee  Very quickly, Ms. Lambert, can you tell us what is being done to address that, especially in the situation of Ukraine right now?

Agriculture committee  Thank you, Mr. Chair. Thank you to all of the witnesses for being here, and in particular to the member of Parliament from Ukraine. We really appreciate your time in helping us understand the situation even more fully. One of the things that you've been talking about this morning that's of concern is the number of internally displaced people in Ukraine right now.

Agriculture committee  Thank you. Thank you for that, and we understand that the most important thing is ending the war and securing the future of Ukraine, for Ukraine and for all of us. You mentioned displaced persons as well and the need to try to help them to find employment. Could you just elaborate a little bit on that?

Agriculture committee  Thank you very much, Mr. Chair. Thank you, Minister Solskyi, for being here with us. I know you're terribly busy, and I appreciate your taking the time at this late hour. What I would like to do, although I have several specific questions, is to ask you, because you're here, and we can better—

Agriculture committee  Thank you. Like all of my colleagues here have said, we are standing in complete solidarity with you. What I would like to do is give you an opportunity, because we are here to listen to you so that we know better how to support Ukraine in the agricultural sector and your farm workers on our own and in concert with your other allies.

Agriculture committee  Thank you so much. I want to follow up on that. I know the United States Department of Agriculture, the USDA, requires producers who participate in its federal crop insurance program to comply with certain conservation requirements—for example, not planting crops on highly eroded land or converted wetlands.

Agriculture committee  Thank you, Mr. Chair, and thank you to the member for Kitchener—Conestoga for sharing his time. I had a question regarding the departmental plan for 2022-23. I noted that it's considering changing policies and programs ahead of the next agricultural policy framework “to stimulate the adoption of sustainable practices to help reduce emissions, increase resiliency particularly for agricultural soils, reduce risks, and open up new opportunities for producers.”

Agriculture committee  Thank you very much, Mr. Chair. Thank you so much, Minister, for joining us again and answering our questions about the main estimates. I will be sharing my time with my colleague Mr. Louis. I have a couple of questions to do with what's happening with avian influenza and canola, and globally as well.

Agriculture committee  Thank you very much. I know it's hit close to home here with King Cole Ducks farms, so I appreciate that this is in place. I believe that is about half the time I have, so I want to turn it over and give my colleague Mr. Louis an opportunity to ask questions.
