Finance committee  Yes, sure. The City of Selkirk recognizes the efforts of the federal government and supports its commitment to maintain the federal program spending during this global economic crisis. The City of Selkirk recommends that the Government of Canada support the Federation of Canadian Municipalities to restore recently expired federal transit investments, lead a national strategy in cooperation with provinces, territories, and municipalities in terms of the $123 billion infrastructure deficit, and put existing investments into affordable housing on a long-term track with partners, with provinces, territories, and municipalities.

Finance committee  Good morning, Mr. Chairman and members of the panel. The City of Selkirk is pleased to have the opportunity to make a presentation to the committee. I wish to thank the government for allowing us this input into the 2010 budget considerations. While there are many items of importance in this great country, the City of Selkirk wishes to focus on three main topics: public transportation, the municipal infrastructure deficit, and affordable housing and homelessness.
