Afghanistan committee  Thank you. I will make my statement in English but I am obviously ready to answer any questions in French. Let me start with some context. On February 1, 2006, I was given command of Canadian Expeditionary Force Command, based here in Ottawa, as its very first commander, and I became responsible to the CDS for all Canadian military operations overseas, including, of course, the mission in Afghanistan.
