Foreign Affairs committee The report is supposed to be tabled in the House, probably tomorrow. As soon as it is.... I've already made some preliminary efforts to contact the witnesses who were mentioned in the motion. So I'm trying to set them up, if possible the first week we come back.

The Clerk of the Committee
Foreign Affairs committee They're going to be here on April 18. I sent an e-mail around late last night. I don't know if you've had a chance to see it. One is a member of Parliament who wants to discuss the situation in Afghanistan with the committee, and the other is the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs.

The Clerk
Foreign Affairs committee Then there's the budget.
February 27th, 2007Committee meeting
The Clerk of the Committee
Foreign Affairs committee No, it's just an informal meeting of about half an hour. He has a lunch planned with the Speaker that day, so it would be from about 11:15 until 11:45.
February 20th, 2007Committee meeting
The Clerk of the Committee

The Clerk
Foreign Affairs committee Right, it would be lower. We still have to pay for the staff.
November 28th, 2006Committee meeting
The Clerk
Foreign Affairs committee That’s right.
November 28th, 2006Committee meeting
The Clerk
Foreign Affairs committee As I understand the situation, it's a policy issue. The point can only be used for travel between A and B. Since we're going from A to B and then to C and back to A, they won't give us the equivalent.
November 28th, 2006Committee meeting
The Clerk
Foreign Affairs committee The policy right now is that a committee travel point can only be used between Ottawa and Washington, or your riding and Washington. The budget is calculated so the members will use half a point for the Washington leg, either from a riding to Washington or Ottawa-Washington. We pay for Washington-New York, New York back to Canada.
November 28th, 2006Committee meeting
The Clerk of the Committee
Foreign Affairs committee We discussed it at the steering committee meeting, but we never had a chance to discuss it here. Members of the steering committee recommended that members use one of their four travel points for Washington on this trip. So the travel costs are just for staff, and then there are the hotels and per diems for all members and staff.
November 8th, 2006Committee meeting
The Clerk of the Committee
Foreign Affairs committee It's Washington, because that's what was discussed at the steering committee. We never got to discuss it at the main committee.
November 8th, 2006Committee meeting
The Clerk
Foreign Affairs committee Probably the cost won't be much different, because it's just hotels.
November 8th, 2006Committee meeting
The Clerk
Foreign Affairs committee Madame Bourgeois's motion is the first because it was proposed at the last meeting.
October 17th, 2006Committee meeting
The Clerk of the Committee
Foreign Affairs committee You can't throw him out, but in the committee's motion, I think they'll say that it's members of the committee. But I'll double check that. In camera meetings: each committee member be allowed to have one staff person present at the committee meetings. It's silent on members of Parliament.
