Government Business No. 4—An Act to Provide Further Support in Response to COVID-19 Mr. Speaker, back in 2008 and 2009, Canada was the envy of the world when we sailed through the financial crisis. Why was that, and what policy differences are needed to put us at number one in the G7 again in terms of the economy?

Fisheries and Oceans Mr. Speaker, fish have tails and oceans have currents, but the government does not seem to know that. The latest move by the government sees it virtue signalling again, and pushing that we cover 50% of our oceans with marine protected areas by 2050, when this Prime Minister will be drawing CPP.

Resumption of Debate on Address in Reply Madam Speaker, if there is one barrel of oil produced in this world, it should be Canadian oil. We have ethical, low-carbon oil and we need to support our own people right here. Europe is sourcing ethical oil. Newfoundland and Labrador has the lowest-carbon oil in the world and it needs to be supported.

Resumption of Debate on Address in Reply Madam Speaker, I appreciate the kind comments of the member opposite. When it comes to Bill C-2, we have a lot of discussion that needs to take place in this House. We need to know if that bill fits what is needed in my industry and in all of the hospitality and tourism industry in Canada.

Resumption of Debate on Address in Reply Madam Speaker, I think a lot about fossil fuels and I think about China producing 28% of the world's emissions and producing 4.5 million gigawatts of electricity by coal. China is a country that is about the same size as Canada. China produces 28% of the world's emissions and Canada produces 2% of the world's emissions.

Flooding in British Columbia Madam Speaker, I rise here for the first time in the House as a gesture of support from the people of Coast of Bays—Central—Notre Dame to the distressed people of ravaged British Columbia. Newfoundland and Labrador is suffering its own devastation with seven wash-outs on the Trans-Canada near Port aux Basques.
