Fall Economic Statement Implementation Act, 2022  Mr. Speaker, more money is needed for housing. I spoke about housing, but there is also the problem of homelessness itself, as we know. The anecdotes that I told are stories, but these things do happen. These are people I met with on Monday. I went to meet with them at one of the centres in my riding.

Fall Economic Statement Implementation Act, 2022  Mr. Speaker, whether this is done by the municipalities, the provinces or the federal government, housing must be built now. The Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, the CMHC, announced last week that 3.5 million units need to be built before 2030. That is quite a challenge.

Fall Economic Statement Implementation Act, 2022  To get back to Ms. L., Mr. Speaker, she is looking for an apartment but her monthly income is $765. She cannot afford anything other than a room right now. All the rooming houses in her area are full at this time. I wish Ms. L. a merry Christmas in her car. Let us now talk about Mr.

Fall Economic Statement Implementation Act, 2022  Mr. Speaker, I often talk about the housing crisis and about how serious the problem is. There are currently several ongoing crises in Canada: the climate crisis, the language crisis in Quebec, which is very serious, and the housing crisis, which is also very serious. I am getting to the point where I am tired of repeating the same things and not getting an answer from the government.

Housing  Mr. Speaker, Christmas is coming and I would like to dream a bit. I dream of more housing co-ops for families, singles and seniors. I dream of social housing for students and persons with handicaps, and a roof over the heads of people experiencing homelessness, first nations members and veterans.

Fall Economic Statement Implementation Act, 2022  Mr. Speaker, my colleague seems very pleased with his government's record on fighting climate change. I do not know what world he is living in exactly, but it was pretty pathetic to see the Minister of Environment and Climate Change walk into COP27 with a retinue of oil company executives.

Telecommunications Act  Madam Speaker, I thank my colleague for her speech. There are people from the Fédération des communautés francophones et acadienne du Canada on the Hill today. They met with the Minister of Official Languages. The House is working on Bill C-13 because we know that the French language is declining in Quebec and Canada, so efforts to promote French must be made.

Telecommunications Act  Madam Speaker, I thank my colleague for her speech, in which she mentioned something very interesting. She said that giving too much power to the executive would undermine the work of parliamentarians. I found that quite odd because Bill C‑11, which is exceptionally important for the discoverability of francophone content and for supporting francophone culture in Canada, is currently being held up in the Senate, where Conservative senators have been filibustering it for months.

Telecommunications Act  Madam Speaker, I am not a cybersecurity expert either. A few weeks ago, I attended a demonstration in Montreal with 10,000 people to support the people who are fighting for their freedom in Iran, which, as we know, is not a democratic state. I have also strongly supported people from the Uighur community, who I have met with many times here in Ottawa.

National Council for Reconciliation Act  Madam Speaker, last week, I had to ask my Conservative friends the same question three times because I was not getting an answer. I will ask this question for a second time today because I did not get an answer earlier from my colleague from the government side. Sport is a source of social cohesion and pride.

National Council for Reconciliation Act  Madam Speaker, in matters of truth and reconciliation, concrete action is important. Right now, the World Cup is on. Sport is obviously a huge source of pride. The Iroquois nation, whose historic territory straddles Ontario, Quebec and the United States, invented a sport called lacrosse.

National Council for Reconciliation Act  Madam Speaker, I will ask a clear question. This morning, we are talking about indigenous peoples. When the federal government tabled its budget in April, it announced that it would be investing $300 million through CMHC to co-develop and launch an urban, rural and northern indigenous housing strategy.

National Council for Reconciliation Act  Madam Speaker, I would like to thank my colleague. She is a unique voice in the House. I always like to hear her talk. What she said is particularly relevant this morning, as we study this bill. I feel very helpless faced with all the truth and reconciliation issues in this country.

National Council for Reconciliation Act  Madam Speaker, last week, the Auditor General of Canada tabled a rather scathing report on housing. My colleague talked about how, five years ago, the government launched the national housing strategy, a major housing initiative to put an end to chronic homelessness in Canada. Five years later, the government has spent a lot of money, but we have no idea what results have been achieved.

Public Complaints and Review Commission Act  Madam Speaker, it is always fascinating to hear my colleague boast about the government's actions. He said earlier that they gave time to the House, that they voted to extend sitting hours until midnight with the NDP's agreement, that they are so democratic, and that they have so much to say.
