Criminal Code  Madam Speaker, as I mentioned in my speech, I believe that we are proposing what we feel are reasonable amendments. In my comments, I used a bipartisan approach to this. I know that many of my colleagues thought the same when they read the news release from the Department of Justice back in March with the comments about what the legislation does not entail.

Criminal Code  Madam Speaker, I am pleased to rise today as the first speaker at second reading from our caucus on Bill C-6, an act to amend the Criminal Code regarding conversion therapy, formerly Bill C-8 before COVID-19 changed our model here and we lost a few months on this legislation. I am honoured to stand in the House of Commons today to provide some comments and feedback on the bill and at times a personal perspective, as we all share a common goal to eliminate the harmful practice of conversion therapy across Canada.

Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, I am really glad my fellow Ontarian got up to the House, so Canadians can see the games the Liberal government is playing on this. The Liberals are trying to pit people against each other. We want the information. There was no talk about working together here in Ottawa to get access to information about rapid testing or to get the document; there was nothing about that.

Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, yes, our leadership team has reached out to the government to say “Let us work together”. The Liberals want to talk about COVID-19, let us get the information. The Bloc Québécois, the NDP and our party are united in saying we deserve full access, and the parliamentary secretary to the government House leader said that is a lot of documents.

Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, I will go on the record commending Premier Brian Pallister for his leadership. I said during my speech that they are trying to make advancements and taking a leadership role on rapid testing. As I mentioned in my comments, they are being blocked by the federal government on this.

Business of Supply  Madam Speaker, I will be sharing my time with the member for Brandon—Souris. It is a pleasure to rise in the House today to speak to our opposition day motion and to, frankly, agree with the government. It has said it wants to talk about the response to the pandemic and talk about COVID-19 to help Canadians in every part of the country get through these challenging times.

Volunteerism in Stormont—Dundas—South Glengarry  Mr. Speaker, while this pandemic has certainly taken its toll, it has not been able to dampen the spirits of countless volunteers who continue to do everything they can to give back. The wonderful volunteers in my region are no exception, and several have been recently recognized for their efforts.

Address in Reply  Mr. Speaker, it is great to be here today, to be back in Ottawa in Parliament getting back to work. As we expected, the speech today had a lot of good lines and platitudes in it. However, as we speak, literally thousands of Canadians are standing in lines across the country and are being turned away because Health Canada has no plan or timeline when it comes to reviewing rapid testing options for them.

Infrastructure  Madam Speaker, I am going to follow up on a few of those aspects. I agree with her. There has been an improvement in the after aspect of municipalities getting the actual cheques when the projects are done. I am speaking more specifically of that time lag between the deadline of those applications being received and that okay.

Infrastructure  Madam Speaker, I am thankful for this opportunity to speak during adjournment proceedings tonight. I will speak to the first two questions I was able to ask in the House of Commons as a member of Parliament. They pertain not only to my riding of Stormont—Dundas—South Glengarry and its rural municipalities and rural projects, but to every corner of this country, whether it is a small, rural municipality, of which I have several in my riding; the city of Cornwall, a mid-sized Ontario urban community; downtown Toronto, Ontario; or the west or east coast.

The Environment  Mr. Speaker, for a Prime Minister who wants to work across the aisle and work together, that answer is unacceptable. This is very simple. It seems like the Prime Minister is more interested in attacking the opposition than in protecting homes, livelihoods and the safety of thousands of Canadians living along the shores of the Great Lakes and the St.

Citizenship Act  Madam Speaker, I will echo what my colleague from the NDP and what my colleague from Yellowhead said. The member said, and I say this respectfully, that words matter, and I agree with that. However, I would argue that we have the opportunity to say that action matters more. It matters more to do things that are concrete and tangible for improving the quality of life for those who live in first nation communities.

Royal Canadian Mounted Police Act  Mr. Speaker, I am new to this place, so I will start with the Public Accounts. The Public Accounts will clarify that spending was not cut when it came to the CBSA. We have seen that from the government on a technical point, but I will not go there today in my comments. My riding is a unique situation.

Royal Canadian Mounted Police Act  Mr. Speaker, I am honoured to get two questions from the Bloc. I also appreciate the opportunity to talk about the serious subject of human trafficking. Akwesasne is part of my riding of Stormont—Dundas—South Glengarry. There is a geographic challenge there in the sense that Akwesasne is divided between Ontario and Quebec.

Royal Canadian Mounted Police Act  Mr. Speaker, as I mentioned in my comments, there is a wide array of things that CBSA workers have to confront. They are really at the front lines of that. I am looking forward, in my many briefings and introductory meetings I am having as a new member, to meeting with the national CBSA president, and also with our local port of entry on that topic.
