Lise Faucher  Mr. Speaker, today, I would like to recognize the great contribution of an incredible volunteer from the riding of Shefford. Until just recently, Lise Faucher was a member of the board of directors of the Centre d'aide aux entreprises Haute-Yamaska et région, or CAE, where she served as a volunteer since the organization was established in 1985.

Government Business No. 20—Proceedings on Bill C‑31  Madam Speaker, I thank my colleague for his speech. I also heard the question from my other colleague. As I already said today, this bill was announced on the same day that seniors' groups were addressing Government of Quebec health care officials, demanding assistance with dental care.

National Ribbon Skirt Day Act  Madam Speaker, I thank my colleague for her speech about the much-talked-about national ribbon skirt day. I hope that, above all, this day will be a time of reflection that will prompt us to take action. My colleague talked about the report on missing and murdered indigenous women and girls.

Cost of Living Relief Act, No. 2  Madam Speaker, I thank my colleague for allowing this debate. However, I do question the timing of this announcement, which was made in the middle of Quebec's election campaign, when seniors' groups were making their demands known to the Quebec government. The government announced dental care funding, but groups like Réseau FADOQ responded that this was not what they were expecting from the federal government.

Canada Disability Benefit Act  Mr. Speaker, I thank my colleague for his speech on this International Day for the Eradication of Poverty. Keeping people with disabilities active in the labour market, finding accommodation measures and promoting their integration also helps to address the fact that too many people with disabilities are in a vulnerable situation.

Canada Disability Benefit Act  Madam Speaker, I thank my colleague from Châteauguay—Lacolle for her speech. Last month, I had the opportunity to speak to Bill C-22. I myself have a family member who lived a good part of his life as a person with a disability, but who has unfortunately passed away. I also had the opportunity to speak with Marie-Christine Hon, who heads up the disability advocacy group Dynamique des handicapés de Granby et région.

International Day for the Eradication of Poverty  Mr. Speaker, the inflation we are currently experiencing is hard to deal with, but it is worse for those who were already in a precarious situation. As we mark the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, let us remember poor seniors, seniors who were already finding it difficult to pay for groceries before prices skyrocketed, seniors for whom every rent increase means they will have another basic need they cannot meet.

Cost of Living Relief Act, No. 1  Madam Speaker, I thank my colleague from Davenport for her speech on this bill, which seeks to help people. The government likes to boast about things like helping seniors. I will come back to this, because I was talking about it just this morning with a food bank representative who reminded me how difficult the situation is for seniors.

Committees of the House  Madam Speaker, I thank my colleague for her speech. This debate is important because of the risk this situation involves. I will make three comments. My colleague can respond to any of them. The current threat is not a reason to abandon the fight against climate change. Those are not my words but the words of UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.

Sylvie Paquette  Mr. Speaker, this afternoon, one of my constituents, Sylvie Paquette, will receive the Prime Minister's Award for Excellence in Early Childhood Education for her work as an educator for the Mamie Pom early childhood centre in Saint‑Césaire. Quebec is proud of its early childhood centre model.

International Day of Older Persons  Mr. Speaker, October 1 is the International Day of Older Persons. It is an opportunity to recognize their diversity, but also to collectively reflect on their place in our society. In this inflation crisis, let us recognize that those on a fixed income are directly affected and need to see an increase in their old age security pension starting at 65.

Business of Supply  Mr. Speaker, I thank my colleague for his speech. I am a little tired of hearing the same old story from the Conservatives. It is agonizing, like listening to a family member play an album with one terrible song over and over ad nauseam. Can we move on to something else? One thing I know for sure is that the tax does not apply in Quebec, as the hon. member for Kingston and the Islands said.

Business of Supply  Mr. Speaker, I sit with my colleague from Peterborough—Kawartha on the Standing Committee on the Status of Women and I thank her for the question. Although I am thanking her, I clearly cannot agree with her today. Among other things, she spoke about clean oil, a term associated with greenwashing.

Business of Supply  Mr. Speaker, in his speech, my colleague addressed the issue of dental care. What amazes me is that they are trying to see this as a solution for contributing to finances, including seniors. Does my colleague not agree that before getting their teeth taken care of, people need to eat?

Cost of Living Relief Act, No. 1  Mr. Speaker, I thank my colleague from Kings—Hants for his speech, in which he touched on housing, which is an important issue. There is no denying that, with the ongoing inflationary crisis, this is one budget category that has grown even more than most. Still, I am fascinated by the Liberal government's lack of long-term vision and its propensity for sending out cheques as a form of one-time support.
