Further COVID-19 Measures Act  Mr. Speaker, as I mentioned, I read a number of the elements of the Minister of Employment, Workforce Development and Disability Inclusion's mandate letter and we are going to take a number of additional steps to try to be more helpful to our disability community. In terms of health care, my understanding is that we have health agreements with every single province, except Quebec, and we are very happy to step up to the plate and continue those discussions with Quebec to ensure that persons with disabilities, as well as all Quebeckers, will have access to better health.

Further COVID-19 Measures Act  Mr. Speaker, I would have also liked to see this legislation pass two months ago. One of the positive aspects of waiting, turning lemons into lemonade, is that this time we expanded on who can apply and access this one-time emergency funding. We are providing a number of avenues for more people to apply for the disability tax credit.

Further COVID-19 Measures Act  Mr. Speaker, that is an excellent question. I actually do not have the answer to that question. I do know that the changes we are about to make would, we believe, benefit 1.7 million Canadians. The other thing to point out is that the changes we want to make would make it more inclusive.

Further COVID-19 Measures Act  Mr. Speaker, I was listening very intently to the minister yesterday. She spoke about the system behind the benefits available to persons with disabilities in Canada, and basically said that the system needs to be changed. It has to be simplified as it is not easy to navigate. She has made a commitment to do everything in her power to simplify the system and make it easier for us to get benefits directly to those who need them immediately.

It is an honour for me to be in the House today and to speak on behalf of the residents of Davenport. NATO  Mr. Speaker, last week, I was part of the Canadian delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly in Brussels. NATO is a multilateral organization committed to global peace and freedom and to meeting the security challenges of terrorism and cyber-attacks. Canada has participated in nearly every NATO mission since its founding in 1949 and is currently leading the following key initiatives: Forward Presence battlegroup in Latvia, led by Colonel Eric Laforest; NATO Defense College, led by Lieutenant-General Christine Whitecross; Standing NATO Maritime Group Two, until recently led by Commodore Josée Kurtz; and the NATO training mission in Iraq, led by Major-General Jennie Carignan.

Rotating Teachers' Strikes  Mr. Speaker, I rise today to speak on an issue that is of top importance to Davenport residents, and that is education. Over the last couple of months there have been rotating strikes in Ontario and this labour dispute is having a negative impact on our children and their education.

Resumption of debate on Address in Reply  Madam Speaker, I am not quite sure what the Minister of Health has mentioned to the media, but there is unequivocal and strong support from this government to put in universal pharmacare across the country. It is never easy to negotiate with the provinces and territories. That always takes a bit of time.

Resumption of debate on Address in Reply  Madam Speaker, the Speech from the Throne mentioned quite a bit about the fact that it is not always easy for us to reach a consensus about how diverse we are and that there is a diversity of opinion across this country, and we have talked about the different factions across Canada.

Resumption of debate on Address in Reply  Madam Speaker, I know that pharmacare is important to the middle class and to vulnerable Canadians, but in my riding of Davenport, the number-one group that mentions it to me is seniors. It is their top issue. They say that they have to make choices between their living expenses and housing and prescription drugs.

Artistic Community  Mr. Speaker, I was delighted to be a guest performer last Friday at the Pia Bouman ballet school's annual performance of The Nutcracker. Based in my riding of Davenport, the Pia Bouman school ensures that every child who wishes to create, learn or perform dance can do so. Thankfully, I did not fall off the stage, and it was such an honour to share the stage with so many talented performers.

Supplementary Estimates (A), 2019-20  Yes, Madam Speaker. As members of Parliament, we are very privileged to be able to interact with the many wonderful military families that exist in our respective communities. We hear their stories about the challenges our military families face. Their spouses are deployed across the country; they spend a great deal of time training and they move across the country when required.
