Health  Madam Speaker, we recognize that Canadians should not have to choose between buying groceries and paying for medication. That is why our government is committed to implementing a national pharmacare program that will ensure all Canadians have access to the prescription drugs they need.

Rail Transportation  Madam Speaker, rail safety will always be a priority for the Government of Canada. That is why we are reiterating our commitment to supporting the people of the Lac-Mégantic region and moving forward on this project as quickly as possible. This bypass is much more than a rail infrastructure project.

Public Safety  Madam Speaker, I would like to take this opportunity to reiterate a few points. Military-style assault weapons were designed for soldiers to shoot other soldiers. They simply have no legitimate place in civilian society. We know that the gun lobby is opposed to these measures, but the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police, the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police and emergency room physicians all called for these measures.

Rail Transportation  Madam Speaker, I would first like to thank the hon. member for Mégantic—L'Érable for his question and for his interest in the Lac-Mégantic bypass project. I share his commitment to this project, which will help restore the communities in the greater Lac-Mégantic region. I recently met with the mayor of Lac-Mégantic and the mayor of the municipality of Nantes.

Public Safety  Madam Speaker, in response to the hon. member for Red Deer—Lacombe, I am pleased to have the opportunity to speak about the development of a buy-back program for newly prohibited firearms and the government's plan to reduce violence and gun-related crimes. While the Conservative Party continues to make promises to the gun lobby that will weaken gun control by eliminating enhanced background checks and making military-style firearms more accessible, we are listening to the experts such as law enforcement officers and physicians who treat victims of gun-related violence.

Chilean Election  Mr. Speaker, today I rise as a Quebecker who is proud of my Chilean roots. A historic election was held on May 15 and 16 for the 155 members of the constitutional convention. Chileans elected 79 men and 77 women, including 17 representatives of indigenous people, to make up the gender-balanced body tasked with drafting the new constitution.

Transportation  Madam Speaker, Greyhound's decision to cease operations in Canada is disappointing. We know that many Canadians depend on this service for transportation, and the transportation industry has been hit hard this year. We have been there from the beginning to provide financial support through various programs, including the Canada emergency wage subsidy.

Rail Transportation  Madam Speaker, I thank the member for Châteauguay—Lacolle for her important question. We are working tirelessly for the community of Lac-Mégantic. This week, our government reaffirmed its commitment to completing the rail bypass project by 2023. Construction is scheduled to begin in the spring of 2022, and the preparation of the plans and specifications will begin in the coming weeks.

Airline Industry  Madam Speaker, I would like to thank my colleague for her question. The Minister of Transport has worked on a number of files that are important to Canada, such as support for the air transportation sector and the fight against COVID-19, as well as on projects that are national in scope to develop a safe, efficient transportation system.

Airline Industry  Madam Speaker, I want to thank the hon. member for her question regarding the Canadian air sector, a very important economic sector. As is well known by now, our historic announcement regarding financial assistance for Air Canada is only one part of the support measures we have pursued for the Canadian air sector.

Airline Industry  Madam Speaker, on top of broad economic support measures that have benefited air transport, our government has undertaken a series of measures to specifically support the air sector and facilitate its recovery and growth. The launch of our new air program, combined with our existing deals with Air Canada and Transat, is part of a series of actions undertaken over the past year that demonstrate our continued commitment to Canada's air sector.

Mental Health Week  Mr. Speaker, today I want to draw attention to Mental Health Week and this year's theme, #GetReal. In Quebec, almost 20% of the population says that they suffer from mental illness, and half of these illnesses start by 14 years of age. In Hochelaga, several initiatives to combat isolation have been launched by community organizations and schools, and even by individuals.

Business of Supply  Mr. Speaker, I would like to thank my other riding neighbour for his question. I have to disagree with my colleague about something. I always enjoy football analogies despite the fact that they are very masculine, but I would like to remind him that we introduced Canada's very first strategy to prevent and address gender-based violence.

Business of Supply  Mr. Speaker, I thank my riding neighbour for his question. That is why I spoke about the sexual misconduct response centre, which already provides services to the military and has been doing so since it opened in 2015. We took action six years ago. We know that we need to go further.

We all recognize that bold action must be taken to change the current culture of sexual misconduct in the Canadian Armed Forces. The process that was followed in this case is the same as the process that was followed by the previous government.
