Agriculture committee I'll just ask a very quick question. We're talking about dual marketing. Is there a difference between a dual and an open market? Have there been any studies or any reports done that show that in effect a dual or an open market system has been truly beneficial to farmers in other parts of the world?

Agriculture committee I have some questions in my thread of thought here. Thanks for taking time to meet with us. I'm encouraged by your hard work and the many positive measures you have outlined, Minister Strahl. In agriculture, we're at a very interesting, but also very critical, point in history.

Canada's Commitment in Afghanistan Mr. Speaker, I would like to thank my hon. colleague for her speech. I would first like to say that, as a former officer with the Canadian navy, I am familiar with our armed forces and that I strongly support them. I have two questions for the hon. member. First, we have heard there is progress in the Kandahar area.

Agriculture committee Thank you very much for appearing. We had discussed this before. I think the climate is ripe, and as somebody mentioned, it is an exciting time. It's my understanding that the minister is behind this, that he's promoting this. Here's a chance for us to not only get this industry moving forward, but to assist in preserving our rural values and our communities.

Agriculture committee The government is saying they want to bring this revenue cap down so the farmers will pay less, and you're saying the $3,000 difference would be used to pay for new cars. Would that mean the farmers would continue to pay the $4,300 under FRCC? I don't quite understand how—

Agriculture committee Can I just follow up on this?
May 16th, 2006Committee meeting
Agriculture committee So the farmers, since 1992, have been paying $4,329 per car, per year for maintenance?
