Finance committee  Thank you very much, Mr. Chairman and members of the committee. I'm here on behalf of DaimlerChrysler, Ford, General Motors, and International Truck and Engine Corporation, which are member companies. Let me begin by simply saying that in today's ultra-competitive environment

Industry committee  Yes, perhaps I could supplement that, Mr. McTeague. The other side of this too is that we need to think about the fuel infrastructure, the fuel itself and the fuel infrastructure. June 8th, 2006Committee meeting

Mark Nantais

Industry committee  I'll be very quick. One of the main things is the huge increase in cost of materials, which is having a major impact on the supply chain. The other thing that may be of interest to you is what individual provinces might do from a regulatory standpoint, and how that affects new

Mark Nantais

Industry committee  Yes, a negative impact on suppliers in Quebec, and we'd be glad to talk to you offline about that.

Industry committee  Monsieur CrĂȘte, the report was in fact produced, and it's actually in printing. This report was not a requirement of the GHG MOU, but it was something we agreed to do beyond the memorandum of understanding. Obviously it was necessary to have it translated and printed. I believe

June 8th, 2006Committee meeting

Mark Nantais

Industry committee  That is correct. As I said, the first report was really just a report on the process to date. The requirements under our agreement require us to report on the first annual emissions in 2007. That's when the first report is required, and that's what we plan on doing.

June 8th, 2006Committee meeting

Mark Nantais

Industry committee  If I understand your question correctly, first, there is a series of deadlines that had to be met--180 days to establish the committee, and thereafter its mandate, and so forth.

June 8th, 2006Committee meeting

Mark Nantais

Industry committee  That has all been done. It was all done within the timeframes; it is all part of this first report.
