While the Liberal leader is planning to raise the GST and impose a job-killing carbon tax, Canada's economic action plan is helping Canadians with one of life's most significant purchases. Conservatives are standing up for Canadian families who wish to better their lives.

Taxation  In fact, the most notable policy resolution that came from the recent Liberal Party convention was a reaffirmation of its tax on everything, job killing carbon tax. That is right. Liberals want a carbon tax. This is the same tax the Liberal leader pushed for in his first leadership race in 2006 and it is the same tax the Liberals had front and centre in their platform in 2008, which was soundly rejected by Canadians.

Liberal Party of Canada  Recently the Liberal leader announced that he “will have to raise taxes”. Raising taxes, imposing a job-killing carbon tax, increasing the GST, and ending the universal child care benefit are part of the Liberal plan during tough economic times to discourage economic growth and tax Canadian families.

Taxation  This is in stark contrast to the Liberals, who last weekend reaffirmed their eternal commitment to raising taxes on Canadians. At their recent convention, the Liberals once again adopted a job-killing carbon tax policy which would devastate agriculture in my riding. We also know they want to increase the GST and end the universal child care benefit. To make things even worse, the leader of the Liberal Party recently announced that he will have to raise taxes.

The Liberals and their leader seem to like taking money out of Canadians' pockets. Would the Liberal leader stand in the House and finally come clean with Canadians?

Renewable Energy  The commitment of the previous government was 6% below 1990 levels, but the targets went 35% above that target. Emissions continued to grow. Does he still support the job-killing carbon tax that he proposed in the last election?

Liberal Party of Canada  It is a road map to economic failure. They want to increase the GST, end the universal child care benefit and impose a job-killing carbon tax on Canadian families and businesses. Most disturbing of all is when the Liberal leader himself announced that he “will have to raise taxes”. The Liberals' road map to economic failure is not the way to help Canadian families and not the way to help the economy.

Taxation  From increasing the GST, to ensuring the end of the universal child care benefit, to imposing a job-killing carbon tax, it is clear that the Liberal Party is out of touch with Canadians. The Liberal Party recently reaffirmed its economic clumsiness when its leader announced, “We will have to raise taxes”.

The Environment  We are getting it done on the environment, but the big questions are, why did the NDP oppose $1 billion for green infrastructure, why did it oppose $300 million for eco-energy retrofits, why did it oppose $1 billion for infrastructure on carbon capture and storage, and does it support the job-killing carbon tax of the Liberal leader?

Can we imagine the action plan of the Liberals during tough economic times, discouraging economic growth and taxing Canadian families?

House debate  Now he is saying that “Canadians are ready for tough measures, including a controversial carbon tax”. Would my colleague stand up right now and say no to that job killing carbon tax? It is not what Canadians want. It is not good for the environment. It is this government that stands up for a cleaner environment. Why does she support the carbon tax?

The Economy  We are helping Canadians who are hardest hit by this global recession. In contrast, the Liberal Party has promised to impose a job-killing carbon tax, to raise the GST and to end the universal child care benefit. In a pattern of announcing policies that will hurt Canadian families, the Liberal leader recently said, “We will have to raise taxes”.

Taxation  They like high taxes and their leader just last week said, and I want to repeat the quote that he made, “We will have to raise taxes”. I respect their honesty: raise the GST, impose a job-killing carbon tax, and take away the universal child care benefit. They have tried to deny all of these statements by trying to cover it up after they accidentally blurted out the truth. There is a reason they are called tax and spend Liberals.

Taxation  Now we know the Liberals want to impose a tax hike on Canadian families during a global recession. We know that they want to increase the GST. We know that they want to impose a job-killing carbon tax. We also know that they want to take away the universal child care benefit. The Liberals and their leader seem to like taking money out of Canadians' pockets. Would the Liberal leader stand up in the House today and finally come clean with Canadians?

Liberal Party of Canada  The Liberals said that they would reverse the 2% GST cut that this Conservative government made. Then they said that they would bring in a job-killing carbon tax. Now they are openly talking about broad, wide-sweeping increases to taxes across the board. Canadians have a right to know this. What taxes are the Liberals proposing to raise?
