International Trade committee  The short answer is that I don't know, but I'll tell you of a very positive development I've seen in ASEAN. International Trade committee  Thank you for your question. The Canada-Singapore free trade negotiations have been ongoing for nearly seven years now. They were only restarted early last year at the intervention of Minister Emerson. The principal stumbling block is the unwillingness on the part of the Singaporeans to give concessions to Canada that they gave to the United States.

International Trade committee  Thank you, Chairman. Bonjour. Good morning, everyone. It's my pleasure to present to the Standing Committee on International Trade on an issue we think is of great importance: the Canada-Southeast Asia relationship. Canada's importance as a trading partner for ASEAN has declined in the past decade, as has ASEAN's importance for Canada.
